He's fat.  He's white.  He's Canadian.  And he smoked crack?

Something doesn't add up here.

The only thing I can figure is that the biatch set him up.

Forget the corruption, criminal acts, ethics violations, and illogical policies. It's the buffoonery that really makes Rob Ford so endearing.

How can a crackhead be that fat?

This is obviously the fault of the US. Their corrupt and sensationalist brand of politics is slowly creeping across the border.

I was originally gonna go with "Fat, dumb and high on crack" but I figured I'd get Animal House Nazi'd. Actually I'm surprised this got greened because of the original thread (that I missed). Admins brought a little joy to my otherwise crummy day.

I'm proud of this crack-dealer. He held out against the media until the story broke and his video would be worth whatever he chooses to ask or this becomes a non-story.

"Absolutely not true," he said outside his Etobicoke home on Friday morning. "It's ridiculous. It's another Toronto Star whatever," he said before getting into his van...

Hi 'denial' seems a little weak given the circumstances. Every hour that ticks by that he doesn't step out of his office and make some kind of definitive statement to the press, who I'm sure are camped out there in droves this morning, is only lending credence to the story.

I love how resigned and embarrassed all his supportors on city council are. These are some of the most hilarious quotes I've ever seen in Canadian politics:

Asked how shocked he is by the allegation,(Councillor) Parker said: "It's at that point now that nothing seems to shock any of us around here any more."

Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday said he didn't believe the allegation but hoped Ford would make a full statement as soon as possible.

"Certainly we all know that videos can be altered and we certainly know that drug dealers can't be trusted so we don't know what we're dealing with here and until we do I don't have much to say," Holyday said.

Asked if he has full confidence in Mayor Ford, Holyday said: "I do at this point." Asked what would shake his confidence, the veteran councillor said: "Well, if these accusations were substantiated.

Marion Barry says "Hello"

Smoking crack, going to prison, and getting caught getting a BJ from a visitor while in prison didn't seem to hurt his political career at all, seeing as he was elected mayor of DC again after all of that.  Tom Ford has nothing to worry about.

Seems fair considering all that "hug a thug" bluster. If true this is reaching Republican hypocrisy levels.

If he doesn't sue for libel, you'll know why - it's because suing for libel would force the production of the video through court order, thus proving its existence.

IANAL, but my understanding is that in Canada only employees who could be a potential safety risk to other people can be forced to submit to drug testing.

What's worse is apparently the Somali dealers involved want to move to Calgary and start over. Do they know how bad the murder rate is for young Somalis in Alberta? It's as bad as Toronto though probably not as bad as Somalia. It might be better to get a new start in some place quieter, like Yellowknife or Iqaluit.

I'm not really a greenlight chaser. I submit stuff I find weird/funny/horrific maybe once or twice a month. This is like my third green I think but I always go for the big prize... the mainpage. I've heard others say you get more greens if you submit to the other tabs like Entertainment, Politics, etc. That's the only reason you see guys with hundreds of greens. Sometimes those get bumped to the mainpage anyway so it does seem to be a good strategy if that's your thing.

Also cliches are the way to go it seems. The only things I've had approved were cliches. All the original stuff gets tanked without fail. Happy hunting.

Seriously.  Did you ever think that you would be glad to have Lastman back?  That he would look like a wise and dignified statesman in contrast to our current Mayor?  Me neither, but here I am saying it.

Mayor McCheese is good for comedy value, but since a requisite amount of time (tragedy+time=funny) has not passed, it is sometimes hard to laugh.

In fairness, that was Edmonton, and the murder rate in Edmonton last year was such that no actual demographic group was safe.

I always get a kick out of Rob Ford though.  Especially since he and Nenshi came in around the same time.  Meanwhile, Naheed Nenshi is so popular, nobody is really willing to run against him yet.

Hey now!

I'm a 905-er and I definitely did not, and could not, vote for your joke.

I have my own jokes, down the Queen-E, in Hamilton.  Where we fight over a stadium for three years and get a mini-BMO.

Sort of. Random alcohol testing is only allowed for safety-sensitive positions (which is defined as one where there is a "direct and significant risk of injury" to the employee or others, so the mayor wouldn't qualify.) Random drug testing is almost never allowed, since it doesn't provide evidence of actual on-the-job impairment and only shows that the individual has consumed the drug sometime in the recent past.

For cause or post-incident testing is a different story, but even then it's far, far more restricted than in the US. Again, drug testing can't prove on-the-job impairment and is therefore highly suspect, plus there's no direct risk to public safety.Even if there was a way to compel drug testing, substance abuse problems are considered a disability here, so companies generally can't just fire you and need to give you the opportunity to get treatment.

Of course, Ford could volunteer for testing if he wanted to cast doubt on the allegations by showing he hasn't recently ingested cocaine.

I can't stand Ford, but I suppose I don't actually want him to die a crackhead. If any of this is true, I hope he resigns (yay!) and gets help.
