WhoGAS: soporific: For some, it's fear of losing authority.Lady Indica: It's an important topic for some christians because for fundies the lynchpin is 'everything in the bible is absolutely true' and if it's not, it's all false. Thank you for both your responses. It's good to read more thoughts on the subject from others with whom I don't normally converse.I guess it was a bit different back in my time...that really wasn't an important topic for us. I mean, we thought about it, we asked about it and everyone from different denominations had their opinion of it but we were taught that if it wasn't in the Bible then it probably wasn't that important for God to have us know. That was fairly logical to us and allowed for more freedom.Maybe I'm just getting older and things bother me more. Maybe I just need to accept that there is no difference between the people in my day and the people of this day...just the focus of topics change. Tomorrow (figuratively put), everything bad will be good again and this generation will be sitting where I am wondering how it got so...different.Anyway, thank you both again for responding; they were both good reads and I agree with, especially the ego, what you said.
