Oh I forgot that the restaurant is violating Arizona law by the owners stealing the wait staffs tips.

/tips are for wait staff only and can not be taken by management or owners no matter what the wages.

FlashHarry: Amy's Baking Company will host a Grand Re-Opening on Tuesday night, May 21, following unflattering portrayals on national television.

ohhhhh what a trainwreck that will be!

I give it 5 min after the doors open... someone will say something or look the wrong way...

Jeebus, are there really that few pizza places or bakeries in Scottsdale? People are acting like this is a five star restaurant opening in town.

icam: The owners will likely be holding a press conference before the Grand Re-Opening to answer falsehoods about their business depicted on a reality television show, including assertions that the restaurant confiscates tips from servers.

They admitted on Kitchen Nightmares that they keep the waiters' tips. Are they trying to backpedal or are they going with the, "They made us say that for the show!" angle?

They're probably more worried about keeping tips and not reporting the income for their business to the IRS

FTA: The owners will likely be holding a press conference before the Grand Re-Opening to answer falsehoods about their business depicted on a reality television show, including assertions that the restaurant confiscates tips from servers.  In fact, wait staff is paid $8-$14 per hour, two and half to nearly five times the standard hourly wage for servers.

First, the husband owner stated that they paid them a salary, but also admitted taking 100% of the tips.

Second, when I leave a tip it is intended for the wait staff.  Under no circumstances would I ever leave a tip if I know the owners were going to take 100% of it.  When the owners take tips left for their employees they are stealing their employee's money, as much as any random person would be if they swiped the tips left for the wait staff off from the table before they were collected.

The last few paragraphs were from a press release by the PR firm, so... aphasic cheerleader.

Read more closely. That part is a copy-paste from the PR statement. Journalist is just inexcusably lazy.

Restaurant/bar owners (thieves in this case, and many, many others) have been doing this for decades. "We pay you $X per hour, which is way more than anyone else would pay you elsewhere. We're being unbelievably generous in doing that for YOU! Now, we're gonna pool all of the tips we took from the tables/credit cards, and divide that equally amongst all servers, and then tip the bussers, bar-backs and line cooks appropriately. You'll still make out like a bandit!"

Then, after you go for drinks or have a smoke session with your co-workers, you find that between 50-80% of the tip amounts received vanish....even after the tip-outs were doled out to your co-workers.

RoboZombie: Does anyone know how your restaurant gets on that show? Why would any restaurant owner WILLINGLY go on a show called "Kitchen Nightmares"?? How do they think it will help them?

They honestly believed that their food is amazingly good and that the only reason they get bad reviews is because of "haters".  They ignored the fact that every other restaurant on KN was a disaster at some level and genuinely thought Gordon was going to come in and agree with them that their food is perfect, thus restoring their pristine reputation and shutting down all the "haters".  Needless to say, they didn't get quite the result they were hoping for.

If you watch the episode, toward the beginning, when they show Gordon around, you can see that they are absolutely confident in everything and that the only problem they see is the "haters" and "bullies".  It's only after Gordon starts to eat Amy's cooking and talk to the staff that things start to unravel.

That aside, if you watched that particular episode, the wife basically thought that Gordon Ramsay would come in and shower her ego with praise about how awesome her restaurant is and she'd be able to stick it to the "haterz".

Well the ones that are usually on there are on a last ditch effort, "please save me", level of desperation. Most don't survive even after being visited.

These dumbasses called Ramsay because they wanted reassurance that they were doing everything right, and all those yelp wannabe food critics were wrong about everything. Turns out they're horrible people with a horrible restaurant, and Ramsay told them that. Then he walked out because they refused to be helped.

This restaurant isn't strapped for cash, and I think it's because the husband is a sugar daddy who's feeding thousands of dollars into a restaurant his "trophy" wife wanted to own. He keeps the doors open, and she keeps her legs open.

And I'm pretty sure what comes out of each is only mildly less tasty than the other.

The funny part is that they only had Gordon Ramsey there to stroke their egos, once he didn't now he's the asshole.  Now they are impugning him on their Facebook page.

Take from their page: Customers will be able to decide who is correct: a famous celebrity chef or the marketplace that has supported the small, locally-owned business for six years.

I have to admit that I'm enjoying every last drop of watching Princess PMS getting PWNED on a global scale.

The only thing that worries me is that Hollywood, in their utter seething contempt at all Americans,  might give these two a reality show so they can act snotty at humanity for years.

Case in Point: "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Child". I would like to know who on this planet outside of a network executive's own ass wanted this show to be made!

It was extremely clean (and the waitress who did the Reddit AMA said it was always that clean, not just for the show).  Gordon was very impressed with how clean the whole place was, including the walk-in, where everything was sorted and labeled properly.  However, this (and good storebought desserts) turned out be the only good things they had going for them.

Even if they do, it will be the fleeting, flash-in-the-pan fame that reality stars like themselves get. Even at the best-case scenario for them, reality show and all, they'll be forgotten and probably also out of business by the end of the decade.
