Wait: Kansas has a board of education?

I'm assuming it's some sort of dart board at which monkeys fling their own poo.

"Board" and "education" are big words for a Kansas Republican

2013-05-16 05:41:27 PM
That's right, buddy. It's nothing but PC bullshiat, and the world has had enough.  You were close this time.  I bet that the next time you try to use it, it will totally work.  You should be holding a pipe, you know, to make yourself seem more scholarly the next time you do attempt to drop a clinical on the world. That will push it over the edge.

It's an actual board.  It's got the alphabet carved in on one side and on the other side is the Ten Commandments and the 14 Words.

Anyone else miss the days when bigots at least had the courtesy to keep their shiat to themselves and their small group of like-minded friends, instead of broadcasting it all over like it was something to be proud of?

What next? They start wearing their white robes when they go shopping?

What's the matter with Kansas?

Depends on how he uses the word. If its to describe someone he's wrong. If he's talking about the word or using it in the proper context then there is nothing wrong with it

Fools, you don't fight the negroes head on, that battle is lost. You use chinamen as the proxy. Its ok to use stereotypes against them, and ethnic slurs too, and mock their physical features. This is the line in the sand.

Not the proper nomenclature, dude.

robbiex0r: "clinically" ?

Yes. Much like little kids say Hell and then excuse themselves by saying that they were merely referring to the literal place of damnation and not swearing.

One does get the impression that he thinks that it's totally unfair that he doesn't get to use the world whenever he likes.

KrispyKritter: ahh bullshiat. walk down a street in the hood in warm weather. tell me what word you hear the most.

No, he's white. That's why he can't say that, and why I can't say it.

Is it not understandable that a denigrating slur might be different when it's coming from someone in the group that has historically oppressed the other group, instead of from one of the oppressed group?

I'm not giving a pass to ghetto culture by any stretch. I think that culture is one of the major things holding large swaths black people back in this country in conjunction with (while sometimes enhancing/"justifying") institutional racism. But I don't begrudge anyone being offended when a white person uses n*gger and not when a black person does, due to the history of the term.

"N-word"?  I swear, we have so many [insert letter here] words that I can't keep up anymore.  Can't we just call a spade a spade?

God-is-a-Taco: Political correctness is out of hand in general, but to make this your fight is just stupid.

In what way is it "out of hand"? Mind you, I've been hearing people biatch and moan about PC speech for at least 30 years, and I haven't seen any particular uptake in the sort of PC verbiage that people are always claiming. Indeed, the silly sort of PC phrases I tend to hear about are usually people trying to mock the notion of PC rather than real examples (or better yet, personal anecdotes of the friend-of-a-friend variety).

Nine times out of ten, when I hear someone claiming that they can't say something for fear of political correctness, it's because they are  actually trying to say something that is, in fact, horrifically bigoted and feeling put upon because of it.

I don't think people would be nearly as offended if these anti-PC people were literally like "what's up my N*****."  The problem is, they mean it to be derogatory, insulting, belittling, racist, ect.

You should field test that theory.

Definition of bigot: person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices...Who does that word describe, the "anti-racist" who follows the line towed by popular media despite reams of available evidence to the contrary, or the person who rejects the popular notions surrounding the propriety of forbidden words, comes to his own conclusions, and acts?
Who is more of a man, the sheep who follows the herd regurgitating anti-racist dogma, or the person who speaks their mind in a public forum, even if this view is unpopular?Niger is just a word.  Think about why it has the connotations it has before you start jumping through hoops demanding you say colored, no black, no african-american, no person of color, no black again.

Aren't those words that are also politically incorrect?  Why not try to test Twitter's reaction to the use of those words?

This. "Political correctness" just basically means "don't be a horrible asshole to other people."

So whenever I hear people biatching about "political correctness," what I actually hear is a person loudly demanding their right to be a horrible asshole.

2013-05-16 07:24:41 PM
Is he defending keeping it in Huck Finn? Talking about not bleeping it in Blazing Saddles when it's on TV? Or is he saying he should be able to say it whenever he wants in order to spite the PC Police? Two of these I can agree with (and don't require him to use the word itself when talking about it). The last one is just plain dumb.

Yep. I have no problem using the word. I refuse to use "n-word," because I don't want to sound like a 6 year old.

I live in a state where it is politically incorrect to talk about evolution in mixed company for fear of offending young earth creationists.

But for some reason no one talks about THAT form of political correctness.
