So where can I get a lion hat for my cats? I tried chasing Ms Landers down on the internet with no luck. I want the same hat that the cat in the first image is wearing, Desi would look just like a lion with it!

Greetings all... TGIC !!.. or.... Yay ! Caturday at last.... Fred is home.. had a UTI... and told me about it.. all fixed up now, on a new food regiment..  picked him up from the vet yesterday evening.. they brought him out in the carrier and all you could see was his butt.. put the carrier in the car, said his name and he turned around and the motor started... first action after being released at home from the carrier was to flop on his back for a belly rub.... after which he demonstrated that he could now pee.... hopefully the new food will prevent a reoccurance....

GoGo Beastie totally wants a princess crown hat so she can bury it in her litter box with all the other stuff I buy her she does not like. Or maybe she really likes all the stuff I buy her and the litter box is like the cat version of a safety deposit box. Who knows? Well, besides the cat, of course.

The knitting thing isn't really an option, I don't know anyone who does knit anymore. My mom did when we were kids but she's in her 80's now. I can just imagine the conversation. "Mom, I need you to knit a lion hat for Desi...., no, stop laughing, really, I mean it!"

I've been digging harder tonight and I think I found her site on Etsy. She's limiting sales to 30-50 hats per week, and she lists them on Sunday. I'll check back then and see what I can find. Should I post the link, or should I keep it sorta quiet? I can always email it to someone who wants it (EIP, TF only, at least I hope it is, I just changed it tonight!). I won't be around to see this thread until Sunday, the Mrs and I are headed off to Toronto for a long weekend starting tomorrow morning!

Corporate finally made the official announcement yesterday. It looks the the only change for us is we'll be getting a new CIO which we'll share with another site. Our current CIO will move on to oversee three other sites. Other than that our entire crew is safe...for now.

There are at least 60 in I.T. throughout the organization that have until July 1st to find another position, otherwise that's when they'll get their severance. I know 4 of them so far.

That said....I still have to go to Mordor in the morning. Goodnight everyone.

His Presentation scores should be awesome ... (Pres is 1 of 4 scoring categories)
---A man went into the pet shop. "I am playing Long John Silver in the local amateur dramatic societies version of Treasure Island and need a parrot to sit on my shoulder," he said.
"I don't have any parrots at the moment, but you wouldn't want a real parrot for that. It would squawk in all the wrong places, shiat on your shoulder and generally be a nuisance. What you need is a stuffed parrot. Just as realistic and easily controlled."
"I'm not sure a stuffed parrot would be okay," said the customer. "I do want this performance to be as realistic as possible."
"I am sure a stuffed parrot would be fine," said the pet shop owner. "I have one at home. I'll bring it in and if you come back on Thursday, you can have it."
"Sorry," said the customer, "I can't make it on Thursday. That's the day I'm having my leg cut off."

It looks like there are more than one link to lion hats on Etsy, the article seems to have stolen pictures from both. The one I found leads to the maker of the hat in the first picture in the article. I doubt I'll be able to keep this a secret until after I order one so I guess I'll post it. Nestanest has the picture used at the top of the article, biatchknits (yes, I know the filters will get that) leads to the second one pictured. I like the first, it looks much more lionlike, biatchknits looks like an out of control rasta-cat

Nick (the cat whisperer) will be stopping over to feed them and scratch them but this will be the first time Desi, Jack and Cisco will be home alone overnight.... Oh Noes, what are we doing????

And a request for homing help:  Hello I have 7 kittens that need new good awesome homes! They are about 21 days, in a couple of weeks they may be ready to go! Please re post so we can help them get adopted!

Aaaannnddd a pic of the cute little ones she's trying to find homes for:

Hai, folks! Good to see everyone. Haven't been gone 24 hours yet and I miss my Cracker Jack! I keep expecting him to jump up on the bed with me. Oh, well - I'm so tired I'll probably pass out in 2.3 seconds and I'll only be away from my kitteh until Monday. Just wanted to check in and say hi. Good night.

No, I didn't take it.  The last time I saw Devils Tower was so long ago that I didn't even have a digital camera.  I escaped from Wyoming in 1975 and avoid going up there. In my opinion they should move the few people who live there out, put a fence around the entire state and make it a wildlife refuge.

I can relate. If you showed me a map of the east coast I could pick out New York and Pennsylvania but that's about it.

Wyoming is the vast wasteland between the extremely cool states of Colorado and Montana. Making it a refuge would be good for bison, wolves and the most endangered species in the US, the black footed ferret,

Eli just gifted me with a nose to nose snuggle..While I scritched the back of his neck. (that part under the collar)..and he didn't offer to nip my nose either! :)

2013-05-17 10:18:26 AM
I just gave Eli his waaay overdue dose of Revolution. It works well for him, no worms, mites, fleas etc..and given that he's been hunting like crazy...a good investment. Anyway, I decided to call Pfizer to complain about the smell of the product. The alcohol scent is really strong, and it freaks the Fark out of Eli..so I called and asked them if anyone had thought of adding a lavender scent, or even a catnip scent to the product to mask the alcohol. I only got transferred once! I dunno if they thought I was nuts or not, but at least they were polite!

And I found out the name of the animal care division is now Zoetis. And there might be programs for 501(c) charitable organizations..(ask the vet)...

D'aawwww...
Biscuit faceTM the Lion Face! How cool would he look if you saved his fur from the next 'haircut' and made a mane for him outta THAT?

OlderGuy: Greetings all... TGIC !!.. or....

You GO, Fred!
Had a urinary issue back in the day with my old Alpha cat Misha. After getting that cleared up,
I changed his food (from 'commercial' to Diamond Active cat) and he never had problems of that sort again.
You're probably on the right track.

lilyspad:
[i.imgur.com image 464x640]*Alice and Dorothy having tea*
Now that just cracked me up. Good start to the day...Thank you, lilyspad!

The clowder got their Cestex the other day (anti-tapeworm medicine recommended for hunters who eat what they kill)...and took that as permission to bring their prizes inside for consumption.
Heard 'crunch crunch crunch' but thought D'Artagnan had just brought a mouthful of kibble out into the living room for consumption (he does this sometimes). WRONG...found bits of grey down feathers...feathers, and nothing more (so far...).
He just checked in with me...unusual for this time of day (morning). Seems he's got some grease on his ear...and he knows where to go when he's got stuff he can't attend to by himself...
"MOMMEEEEE!"

He didn't fuss at ALL when I washed his ear for him...just purred and cooperated.
I keep telling people...that boy is scary-smart.

2013-05-17 11:12:20 AM
syzygy whizz of course he knows where to take himself when he needs help! And tell him to stop checking out car engines, you have a warmer and safer lap! :)

Gave Eli his Revolution, which he hates because of the alcohol carrier. I think..his tummy is unhappy this morning, so he is on my watch list. He did eat a bit of gooshy food this morning. I think he wants to go outside and nom some grass. But he has to wait for the mail! poor kitteh!

The only animal that I dressed up was Belle. She had skin allergies in the spring and summer and would chew herself raw. After trying all kinds of medications and topical cures from the Vet, I grabbed an old shirt and put it on just to block her from scratching. It worked no more scratching or chewing and when she wanted to go out she would grab her shirt and bring it to me to put it on. The Vet thought it looked kinda funny but it worked.

Why yes....I have put clothes on my pets.  I am pretty sure it is a requirement in the House of Heathens.  It all started with a large dog who came to live here in 2003 and a bonnet my Mom made as part of my Little Miss Muffett Halloween costume circa 1965 (Mom saved it...I found it in the trunk that I brought back to Florida that year....and yes, I still have it and yes, there is a picture of me in said costume from 1965).

it started before she came to Florida.  This happened in early 2003 when I was up visiting my parents to check on them.  The hat, the scarf and the red cowboy boots belonged to my sister who left them at their house until she could get all her stuff up to Canada.

Oh my gosh that is just solid gold! I have the "Cat" costume (one piece with a zipper up the back) that all of us kids wore. It's some sort of black cotton..must be tungsten, it went thru two boys and a girl and then my kid! It had a separate hood that you could sew cat ears on, or mouse ears...oh, and a one size fits all tail...I made it into a bat costume for my boy, when he was very young..that was before the Guinea Pig costume..I think...and yes, I made all of his costumes...including when he was Captain Kirk...:) ahhh..blackmail fodder!

Waaay back when, our first cat was a black tom. He was scary smart, but died of a cardiac issue. Very nasty, and we got him rehabbed, but he threw a clot and that was kinda all she wrote..Then we had Porky..who was! He was injured and lost an eye, and broke his jaw. I spent a good deal of time feeding him pureed catfud...ew..and then he would shake his head and spray the kitchen..lol..lol...but he was teh awesome. And he was mine. Not planned, but, he knew his own mind. I still miss him, and it's been a good 20 years or more. I feel blessed though. I had a very memorable kitteh!

thank you. They are indeed quite fragrant. I might just wash up the big ones...

I have a power massage shower head and I use that on my knee when it really starts to hurt. About 10 or 15 minutes on high impact followed by a heating pad for about 30 minutes. It won't last forever but it will usually get me thru an average day. Or if you have a jacuzzi, that works too.
Hope you find something that works. With any luck at all it will be gone by Graduation time

Dunno if this will help you, but a couple of years ago I shattered my leg and dislocated all the bones in my ankle...the only thing I've found that helps me for the pain and puffiness I still get is a turmeric supplement.  Its a natural anti-inflammatory.

Have you tried an Epsom salts bath? I know, onion belt and all that, but it works. Same for magnesium tablets. You can also get a magnesium oil spray. It really helps me with muscle pain.

If that doesn't work take 2 fingers of Bunnahabhain and call me in the morning.

gremlin1: The only animal that I dressed up was Belle.

Here's a few things you might find useful...dehydrated veg; celery, spinach, onions (red and yellow), and bell peppers (various colors- red, green, yellow, orange and purple).
I make my own, courtesy of my dehydrator and Costco (large amounts of veg for a very decent price), so there's no weird preservative shiat in them.
I've given jars of mire poix (celery, onion, and carrot) as well as mixed dried bell peppers as gifts...very pretty and very useful!
The peppers become chewy, and the flavor is concentrated, so they make an interesting addition to salads as well as useful for cooking.
Can't say the same for the celery...it becomes almost rock-hard and needs to be cooked.  About 10 minutes will do it.  It's weird, but something about the dehydration process makes it so that it will NEVER cook down into mush.  It retains a slightly chewy texture.  I use it in soups, stews, stuffing...and I'm told it goes a LONG way toward making ramen noodles more palatable and interesting.*
Spinach keeps its color and has concentrated flavor.  You can use it on salads, in the dressing, in eggs, the usual soups, stews (and ramen noodles!)...and it does WONDROUS things for tuna salad.  I've had people tell me that mine is the best they've ever had (which scritches my ego and makes me smile and go purrrrr...).

* Friend of mine was going 'camping' for a summer...had to keep his rations as light and non-perishable as possible.  Case of ramen noodles was part of the provisions.  I gave him dehydrated celery, onions, and spinach...came to less than a pound, but he told me later that he became very popular due to his cooking and that the addition of this stuff made all the difference.
It's nice to get things RIGHT now and then... :-)

You haz my empathy (chronic pain issues here).
I've found that generic muscle rub (Ben-Gay or Aspercreme knock-offs- I'm cheap thrifty) work surprisingly well for aleviating joint pain...although only temporarily...figure 2-3 hours, but they 'kick in' IMMEDIATELY.
I know you'd probably do this anyway, but my obsessive little soul makes me do this:
Make sure you wash your hands really well after applying!  If you get the fumes near your eyes it's very painful...and...how do I put this...keep it away from delicate parts*

They have the odorless kind if you really hate the wintergreen smell, but I don't know if they have it in generic.
Hope this helps...knee pain SUCKS...especially when you have to get stuff done!

Thinking you meant 'tub and its grody mat', right?
Make your life easier.  Toss the mat into the washer with a towel and use some vinegar in the rinse.
It will clean and de-grodify the mat.  Saw this in 'Hints from Heloise' years ago...and I do this for the tub mats at my group home.
Only way I can think of to clean the tub easier is to get someone else to do it... ;-)

Had medical hardware emergency in mid-afternoon myself which prevents me from going tomorrow; replacement promised NLT 9:30AM tomorrow, but I must sign for it. However! Have acquired promise from another YL who lives here in Cinti & does  get to return tomorrow, to convey message to FISTS for him.
She's unable to go Sun; guy I was gonna ride up with tomorrow isn't going Sun either; just thought of one other local club mbr (both those mentioned are) I might query. 'Ave a go at that in a minute or 5.

Ft of pg 3.
Distracted & didn't welcome The Downfall & compliment him on the veteran 17 yr old Kodi's good looks. Like Fred at OlderGuy's place, Kodi rather resembles Gretl who let us live with her in enlisted wed quarters in W Berlin a lifetime ago. First cat Plumbicon & I adopted after we wed.

Found out one of my mgrs. at work can't do this with his tongue.....so I do it to him all the time! Pisses him off that I can do something he CAN'T!!! Hahaha!!!!!!

I wonder what the % is of people who can do that. I've been told only 30% can.

//For the record, I can. I can wiggle my ears too.
