tigerose: So,I have three seniors dominating my dining room table, building a roller coaster..They are currently eating dinner..I grilled burgers and turkey dogs. One student has a pork prohibition. Sounds like a plan. Listening to them work in the other room is making me nuts. Never mind that no one brought materials, or, a plan....so we've provided all the material, and the noms. Not that I mind the noms. But the lack of direction? Not so much.

Note to teachers, "Please do not assign big-arse projects due in the last two weeks of school. Some of your students are taking APexams, my son had two, which ate up two days of school..3 hrs. of exams..playing in final concerts, performing in the last play and going to prom." Thank you, signed, Frazzled Mom!

lilyspad: [i.imgur.com image 361x640]*ocicat(?) in chainmail harness*

Now that is just too cool!
One of my friends commisioned a very fine chainmail coat (lined with suede) for his cat...kind of a joke, since Nyow (Japanese phonetic 'meow'...cat's name) just couldn't seem to keep himself out of fights.
What the poor boy really needed was a helmet...either that, or to learn how to duck the headshots.

~*~*~*

Had a LOT to do downstairs last night (5 hours worth)...Raven came looking for me TWICE.
I'll hear her crying, and call out "I'm down here"...and she'll come trotting down the stairs, accept a few scritches, purr a bit, then go back up.
She won't hang out downstairs with me, since that's Charlie's (group home's housecat) 'territory' and Charlie is extremely unfriendly...even after almost 2 years of Raven coming to work with me. Only way I can pet Charlie is if I bend down and offer my hand. Charlie then chooses whether or not to rub against it...and that's IT.
Anything more, and I get seriously nailed...Charlie does NOT pull her punches OR retract her claws.
Way I hear it, she was a stray who 'adopted' the house, and then gave birth to 8 kittens (musta been some night on the town!).
They found homes for the babies, got her spayed, and since then she's been the House Cat.

My boys insisted on going out last night, even though it was raining. The greeting I received made up for a very stressful night though. Wimsey came GALLOPING. That big white cat can really get over the ground when he wants to do so...Riktor did that 'meet you halfway' move; sitting up on his hind legs when I reached to pet him...and purr?
He must have turned the volume up to 8 at least...Riktor at a 10 can make things vibrate. Not so much loud as he's got some sort of internal sub-woofer that ups the low-frequency effect...you can FEEL his purr in your bones.
D'Artagnan will check in when he's hungry...maybe even spend the night inside. Who knows? :-P

akimbotoo: maynerdkitty: Good morning all,I have a problem here on the farm. This cat is a MONSTER!
[farm8.staticflickr.com image 500x282]
He looks innocent enough but he has been systematically hunting the outside kitties.
I have not seen Forrest for almost a week. He has been following her around the farm and I would see them in the trees but I did not think too much of it.
Forrest is my ghost kitty so I am used to not seeing her for short periods of time and I did not think too much of her going missing.
Two days ago I saw Flower and Tom sitting under the riding mower, Flower was talking like normal but she would not stay still long enough to get petted. That is normal for her and I did not think too much about it.
Last night Oma Cassie came to the porch window and began meowing. She has never done this. I went out to talk to her and petted her a little. Then I showed her the pet door and let her come in. Li-Ion came out of the bedroom all mean and puffed looking. He got her trapped in the laundry room and I had to go after him. Cassie ran away but Li-Ion was dripping urine! He was all puffed and mad so I threw him in the bedroom where he attacked Fiona.

I think he ran Forrest and Flower off the farm. I wonder if he hurt Flower and that is why she meowed at me. I am trying to keep Li-Ion locked in the house for now but I did not see either of the girl kitties this morning. Oma Cassie has been extra loving and I am afraid she is lonely. I put out extra water dishes around the farm and I keep food in the garage for them.
Is there anything else I can do?

Dang little shiat!  I think I would try the generic version of the Feliway collar.

Link

I know I have recommended these several times over the past year, but they have worked for quite a few people I know. They do seem to calm down aggression and territory marking in kitties very well. You do have to replace them monthly though. You may be able to find them at a local pet store. Please keep us posted.

I've had luck with those collars as well. Most of the time, I can take them off and leave them off as the pheromone dissipates. However, one I just keep on him because he's neurotic and high strung to begin with and the collars are easier than Prozac. I can tell when it starts drying up because he acts more neurotic than normal.

what's the formula for your Irish cream?

Sickapie: It tastes boozy and creamy and eggy with a hint of chocolate.

Here is my formula (being a good Wisconsin girl, I usually use brandy):

1 cup whiskey or brandy
1/3 cup rum
2 TB chocolate syrup
1 pint unwhipped whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Put in blender.
Blend for 60 seconds
Keeps in fridge for up to 90 days (90 days? Bwahahahahahahaha !!!!!! )

oh, since we're on a food kick-
much earlier B4 mentioned doing a french toasted grilled cheese...
one of my all time favorite sandwiches is grilled ham and cheese with a slice of
spiced apple ring tucked in the ham, dipped in egg/milk mixture and fried like french toast.
the desert to this was vanilla ice cream with peaches and raspberry sauce.

Hardly any activity on #2 Caturday thread since afternoon. Mayhap the soggy moggy just hasn't the appeal of cats in lion-mane hats!
I must needs start transcribing the Mar-Apr women's amateur radio magazine.  Reference in the Jan-Feb to an article in Jan WorldRadioOnline re high-altitude ballooning carrying data-grabbing devices that the 2012 Amateur Radio Newsline Young Ham of the Year  does.  FIRST (acronym: For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) Robotics competitions.  Another acronym given was DREAMS, which mere Seek didn't reveal. But found a line for a place that knows! Gent with a thicker UK accent than I've heard in a while rang up here on Fri, mentioned DREAMS  & gave his phone #. So tomorrow I'll know too, & may advise my transcription client.
Also be able to get some data from my endocrinologist that I'm meant to record each time there's a change, to allow the re-program of my insulin pump. Also speak to the local tech rep, because following the manual doesn't work. Says to do things the flaming device won't allow me to do.  Only had the 1st one since Nov 2010, & am reasonably sure someone else programmed it for me then.
