Help, my house has become a war zone and I'm really worried that somebody is going to get hurt.  Juno was sitting on the window seat and a strange cat was on the porch.  She started making that growling/howling sound, when I went to see what was happening the other cat took off, but Juno started acting like she's never seen any of use before. She was hissing at me and howling at Lucy and Morticia. She's not hissing at me or Lucy anymore but she's making it clear that she's ready to rip either one of us to pieces if we get too close. But Morticia and Juno are still howling at each other and are on the verge of a huge fight. I have no doubt that someone, probably Juno of course, might get really hurt. I've tried treats and I can get Juno to eat one but it doesn't calm her down and Morticia won't even look at them. I really have to de escalate this before I have to leave for work or I'm afraid I'll come home to a bloody mess.  We've had problems like this before but not on this level.

I joke a lot about Juno, but as I've said here before, I really believe that her brain is not wired correctly.  I'm afraid she'll start something that Morticia will be happy to finish.

I think it is called displaced aggression, that is why Fiona got swatted last night.
Can you put Juno in a "safe room" until she settles down? Give her food, water, nip and a soft blanket. She should be OK by the time you get home from work.

Immediate solution, can you use towels to grab and wrap cats and get them shut in separate rooms?  The towel is so you can minimize your own blood loss in the moving process.

valnt9: the abandoned animal concept has been weighing very heavily on me,
I am being forced to move soon.
and most will remember a 7th cat has declared my house as his.
but I CAN NOT take him with me. can. not.
I have made sure he has a rabies shot, and thanks to my sainted vet
George is no longer a "Tom", but I must find a safe place for him in 2 weeks
or less.
the panic level is high
he isn't "presentable" for adoption fairs due to the fighting scabs on his face
and the shelters are all swamped with kittens
I don't know what I'm going to do with him.
he's a sweet, attention whore with people, he apparently doesn't like
some other animal in the area and has taken a beating.
any ideas??

I'm so sorry Valnt9...can you maybe talk to some of the neighbors to see if they are willing to take care of him?  Good luck.... :D

I live out in a really rural/farm area. only 1 neighbor closer than 1/2 mile and they have 2 dogs and 2 cats already. I need to move him to a better area.

Holy crap! They're eating into your deck? Get some Raid and nuke them from orbit!
Worst problem I've had with bumblebees was when they took over an old gopher hole in the front yard. Ran over it with the mower and found my self surrounded by them, I ran, they went back in the hole and I plugged it up with dirt (and salt and Holy water and cement and nails etc...). I can handle snakes and reptiles but bees and wasps are Satan in my book. If they leave me alone, I'll leave them alone, otherwise it's kill 'em with fire.

If they're eating wood they aren't bumblebees, they're carpenter bees. The way to tell the difference is by the hair on the back end. Bumblebees have fuzzy butts, carpenter bees have hairless butts.

Oh great...now I'm going to be running around looking at bee asses!!  :D

He looks innocent enough but he has been systematically hunting the outside kitties.
I have not seen Forrest for almost a week. He has been following her around the farm and I would see them in the trees but I did not think too much of it.
Forrest is my ghost kitty so I am used to not seeing her for short periods of time and I did not think too much of her going missing.
Two days ago I saw Flower and Tom sitting under the riding mower, Flower was talking like normal but she would not stay still long enough to get petted. That is normal for her and I did not think too much about it.
Last night Oma Cassie came to the porch window and began meowing. She has never done this. I went out to talk to her and petted her a little. Then I showed her the pet door and let her come in. Li-Ion came out of the bedroom all mean and puffed looking. He got her trapped in the laundry room and I had to go after him. Cassie ran away but Li-Ion was dripping urine! He was all puffed and mad so I threw him in the bedroom where he attacked Fiona.

I think he ran Forrest and Flower off the farm. I wonder if he hurt Flower and that is why she meowed at me. I am trying to keep Li-Ion locked in the house for now but I did not see either of the girl kitties this morning. Oma Cassie has been extra loving and I am afraid she is lonely. I put out extra water dishes around the farm and I keep food in the garage for them.
Is there anything else I can do?

Wow....is this something new?  I don't remember you ever saying anything about Li-Ion being aggressive.  Maybe he isn't feeling well, and could use a visit to the vet???  Hope you get it figured out, and Flower comes back home.  HUGS!!!

I would say definitely displaced aggression. It can get ugly, too. I would break up any fight like that with a squirt bottle or noise when it happens, and see what you can do to keep the strange cat away from your house. I found that chasing a cat out of my yard with the hose was pretty effective!

Trip has done this before.. if other cats get in a fight, he gets all freaky..growls at everybody, puffs up, gets uber defensive... I think he is insecure.. when Quiz was here, she got hung up in a plastic bag and freaked out.. I had to dive at her to catch her.. Trip freaked on that... thought I was hurting her.. sat on the floor with Quiz on my lap, getting her calmed down.. her favorite spot was on my chest with her head under my chin and paws around my neck... took about 30 minutes to get peace back in the house....Trip finally got on my lap on the couch, another 30 minutes to get him calmed down.... he likes status quo.. and reacts badly when it is disturbed.... the strange cat has disturbed Juno,s status quo.. it may have marked your house, which would upset Juno even more... she,s scared.. does she normally sit in your lap?  If so, try to get her to do some lap time with you... nothing more calming... and 'nip' may help....

There's other ways to tell (though not as definite) without getting so close.  Male carpenter bees "patrol" the area around their nest to protect it and try to "get with" any females in the area.  They're quite aggressive, and like to hover right in your face if you get too close (fortunately, the little male bastards can't sting, which makes it safer, if not less intimidating).  They'll also do what I can only describe as "engage in dogfights" in midair.  They'll dive bomb each other, circle a few times, and then fly off.  If you see bees doing that in an area with lots of exposed wood (like my deck) there's a very high chance that you've got a carpenter bee on your hands.  Confirm it by finding perfectly round, approximately 1/2 inch holes in the wood (seriously, I wish my drill was this good), and you can be pretty certain without having to do an ass inspection.

don't give up.
if you can afford the care, there are options.
keep trying to find ALL the options before you decide.
btdt. had a cat that had several caths done, then surgery to reconstruct his peeing.
he lived another 7 yrs.

Dang little shiat!  I think I would try the generic version of the Feliway collar.

I know I have recommended these several times over the past year, but they have worked for quite a few people I know. They do seem to calm down aggression and territory marking in kitties very well. You do have to replace them monthly though. You may be able to find them at a local pet store. Please keep us posted.
