Kick his arse Seabass.

He's going to move from team to team until their respective state legalizes same-sex marriage.

Actually, now that you bring it up, there's more than a passing resemblance between Seabass and the lead screamer of Kluwe's band.

The plot...thickens!

DUN DUN DUN!

half-assed indeed

The Raiders? I guess he's playing Zen football: Winning is unimportant, it's the act of kicking that matters.

2013-05-16 12:14:55 PM
Well, at least he'll be playing in a region where many residents agree with and are equally passionate about his views.

I'm referring, of course, to the Ray Guy for the HOF campaign.

Yeah I kind of did a double take when I first saw this, missed the news that Lechler signed with the Texans.

Huh, I missed Lechler signing with the Texans as well, and he's my favorite NFL player.

He's not bad but it's still going to be funny after Marquette King beats him out in camp and fark's collevtive head explodes when Oakland cuts him. Just about the only think that could make the Raiders more hated around here.

Oakland drafted King as the starter anticipating Lechler leaving.  Going to be interesting to see what happens.

It'll be funny to watch him punt for the Minot Sagebrushes in the North Dakota Semi-Professional Football League at the age of 63.

The article said King was an undrafted signee. I'm now confused and I want a nap.

Thought they drafted a punter...I may be in the wrong.  I don't follow the offseason football stuff since I'm balls deep into hockey well into June.

As I Raider fan, this is the best news in a long time.

Well, rooting for Kluwe is basically rooting against the Raiders since the more he plays, the less they're probably winning.

May he punt his heart out for them for years to come!

Glad to see him coming to the Bay Area, and in a way that didn't require the 49ers getting rid of team MVP Andy Lee.

2013-05-16 03:16:24 PM
Well, since NBC apparently stole the fake show "Wheels and the Legman" from FOX and is actually doing it for real (more or less), FOX does need something, although I'm guessing that it would be more suited for FX, right after The League.

The article is correct. Oakland signed the kid as an undrafted rookie free agent last year. Kid has an absolute cannon for a leg but had a longer 2 step approach to kicking that left him open to being blocked more often. He began working to shorten his approach when he managed to sustain some kind of "foot injury" that allowed Oakland to keep him on IR while Lechler ran out the final year of his contract. Now that Lechler is gone and King seems to have the short step approach down they've brough in a veteran at a cheap rate to push him. King makes good and the Raiders have a good cheap punter for the long haul. Should King tank they still have a reliable vet at the ready.

This whole "planning roster moves with some thought" stuff is a bit of a new concept in Oakland. Now let's see if they can apply this to something more than just special teams.

I keep thinking that the Raiders will be lucky to win 4 games next season, then my brain tells me that number might be way too high.

It's sad when the kicking team is the only team that isn't a complete clusterfark.

They've got 6-10 written all over them; bad enough to have to look long and hard at the overrated Johnny Manziel but  too low for Clowney.

/If Vegas puts them on a 5.5 O/U I wouldn't mind sweating out the over.

Bring your family to the black hole?  Most Raider fans are on bail or parole.

The good news is that if you're rooting for a punter, you're probably not rooting for a team to succeed.

Yes because punters never affect the outcome of games to the positive for their team. No kicking their team out of bad field position. No pinning the other team's offense deep in their own territory. No big hang time kicks that keep the opposition's PR from breaking a long return. Nah none of that, a good game for a punter = a bad game for their team.
