I_C_Weener: MarshHawk: SilentStrider: Since he never released them, I'd say he probably never had them and was bluffing the whole time.

He may have been bluffing about having the information, but he was probably still accurate.  Romney didn't exactly trip over himself trying to prove Reid wrong.

Can I see your tax returns?  In thread for all to see.  I heard that you didn't pay any taxes in 2009.  I'm just trying to help you address these concerns.  1040 plus all attachments and schedules for the last 10 years should clear this up, don't you think?

You know, if I were running for president, and if my dad had run for president decades before and had started the tradition of disclosing multiple years of income tax returns during a campaign, then sure, what the hell?  You can have 'em.

I_C_Weener: Fart_Machine: I_C_Weener: Halli: Why didn't Romney produce his tax records? Can you answer that?

Why didn't Obama give his transcripts. Can you answer that?

See how silly this is?

We need to move the goalposts again I see.

By no means.  I'm agreeing with those who don't think Obama should have had to disprove a negative.  But if you think there should be different rules for Republicans and Democrats, I can't stop you from thinking that.  Go team.  Rah, rah, rah.  Sis boom bah.

You are wrong. The two are not comparable. It is precedent for someone running for president to release their tax returns. Birth certificates and transcripts are not. The only people who would draw a comparison are partisan hacks. The GOP has put you in the position of defending Mitt Romney, you should be angry with what your party has become.

B-b-b-but Harry Reid said someone told him that his sister's boyfriend's best friend's neighbor saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night.  I guess it's pretty serious.

I like this story since DC seems to be implying that the rumors that Romney was a tax cheat were true.

just think. whatever was in those returns was more damaging than not releasing them despite the fact that HIS OWN FATHER was the one who set that particular precident for releasing multiple years in order to get an accurate picture because ""Release of the document, while it might serve a political purpose, would not prove very much. One year could be a fluke, perhaps done for show, and what mattered in personal finance was how a man conducted himself over the long haul."

Romney made the decision that whatever fallout he got from hiding them was less damaging than whatever was in there. All that does is make people wonder what he's hiding.

Thank god that amoral farker lost.

I am not defending anything, I am saying that it hurts Romney's credibility that he didn't do what every presidential candidate in my lifetime has done. It contributed to the GoP losing the White House. You should be angry, I am happy with the way the election turned out.

If Reid is telling the truth, it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone in the Mormon Church who has access to the records Romney is required to show them. Not everyone, especially the more fundamentalist members, were thrilled about the image of Mormonism that Romney was presenting.

And now the Republicans bring out their stupid "What if" machine. I guess even when there's a real life scandal to exploit they still can't resist the temptation to derp about a bunch of fiction and get outraged about that instead of reality.

BitwiseShift: Marcus Aurelius: All you need is about $300, an IRS employee with access to their database, and a name or social security number, and you can get a copy of any tax return you like.

Tell that to the IRS employees busted just for peeking at famous people's info out of boredom..

Those system admins at Treasury can see who's logged on and everything.

I forgot to add you need to find a sneaky IRS employee that uses someone else's login to do the deed.  I can't imagine the security layers they've had to put in place.

Wanna know something ?

You can't sue a Senator or Representative for slander.

Article 1, Section 6 paragraph 1

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their services, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the treasury of the United States. They shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.

No Senator or Representative shall, during the time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil office under the authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time: and no person holding any office under the United States, shall be a member of either House during his continuance in office.

So, technically ... He can allege all he wants.

Cletus C.: Until Reid proves otherwise, he's a lying sack of shiat. It's not on Romney, it's on Reid.

Efforts to connect his alleged knowledge of Romney's taxes to the IRS clusterfark are a predictable fallout from the disturbing mess.

And I assume that your new-found burden of proof standards for people making wild, unfounded accusations will also extend to those pushing unsupported conspiracy theories about Benghazi?  Should Darrel Issa also show us proof of wrongdoing or else admit that he's a lying sack of shiat?

......

impaler: There is an "IRS scandal" with the IRS prioritizing the processing of certain 501(c) groups based on political affiliation.

If the IRS gave Reid Romney's tax returns, that too would be an "IRS scandal."

Since both sentences contain the phrase "IRS scandal," we can assume they are linked.

/RWA logic.

Now, you know, there's only a scandal, when, the names 'Bush', 'Cheney', or 'Haliburton' are mentioned on a Libtard Politics tab comment section.

BunkyBrewman: Here's how Reid's accusations went down last year: In an interview with The Huffington Post, Reid claimed he had been called by someone who had invested in Romney's former firm, Bain Capital. That person said Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years.

"He didn't pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that's true? Well, I'm not certain," Reid told the liberal news outlet. "But obviously he can't release those tax returns. How would it look?"

I'm outraged!  Outraged I tell you!

I don't get it. If this is the case then how does one make the conclusion that the info was gathered from an IRS source?
