The wife and I sent a wreath to my mom for mother day via FTD.

...or at least we thought we had. We got a call from them today saying the were refunding the money. Turns out, they didn't have any delivery service where my mom lives.

Hey, FTD, have you ever thought about maybe, you know, checking to see if you can actually, you know, deliver the order before finalizing it?

FARKing turds. Congratulations - now my mom didn't get anything from us on Mother's Day. No goodwill vouchers will ever cover that. Evar.

The thing is, a lot of people make a great deal of noise about boycotting a business because they're doing something 'wrong' (wrong being a nebulous thing ranging from 'they charge to much' through to 'they killed people').  But they'll go right ahead and buy something else the very same company makes but sold under a different brand and may, in actuality, be made in the very same factory where the other stuff is made.  Even when you point out the connection.

The very people this app would be aimed at DON'T boycott companies they DO however boycott BRANDS.  They'll tell you Coke is the devil whilst swinging their bottle of Dasani.

Hey, Vaneshi! Looks like you were wrong.

Florist I've been using for the last couple of years sent my mother the wrong flowers, then tried to tell me that I got their "marquee" flower package and that I also got "full value" when I brought it to their attention. I told them I didn't care, that though the flowers were nice and more expensive, they weren't what I ordered. Turns out I was actually talking to the owner and if she hadn't tried to blow off the mistake *twice*, I might have let it slide. But I made her redo the order just to make her use double the flowers. It also happened that the arrangement they were promoting (the one I ordered - nor was it on sale) had tulips in it and the owner said nobody had tulips because they were out of season. When I asked why they were promoting them for Mothers Day anyway, she had no answer.  They ended up doubling up on the roses.

This was also early in the week prior to Mothers Day, so it wasn't a last minute order, either.

The app scans barcodes and runs them up the chain of ownership. I don't see how that is going to help you boycott your local florist.

Good for you for ordering early. About a week for best results, so that's good.

The reason they were promoting tulips is because they are a member of a network that provides their website with stock products and possibly in-store posters and flyers. The florist should have enough control to remove the tulip arrangement from the promo if they're not going to have it, but most florists just don't take the time to do so.

The florist absolutely should have contacted you before making a replacement, but it sounds like, beyond that, they really did go out of their way for you. I suggest you stick with them.

Florists are fickle, creative people who don't have a whole lot of business sense. You'd think they would, but most don't. I don't mean that as an insult... it's just the stereotype. They're usually small operations run by a person who is very good at arranging flowers but very bad at marketing and calculating profit margins.

The wreaths have a card with them, Einstein.
