Their clothes are cheaply made and wear out too quickly. This is the worst thing you could give a homeless person to wear.

Abercrombie & Fitch sucks. And they're racists to boot.

That's funny, but I think it will be a net win for A&F because one indirect sale to the homeless will cause less than one lost sale to a desirable customer.

They're clothing from thrift shops.

Jesus H. Christ.  Does Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries actually own a mirror?  I saw that photo and physically screeched, thinking a chest burster was working its way out of his cranium.

Never have owned any, never will.  I know I sound fat, but really I am not.  Probably too skinny, actually.

So we'll have a lot of homeless hipsters out there?

Jeez, it's bad enough they have to be homeless, they have to be douchebags too?

A&F's customers are what ruined the brands image long ago. Homeless wearing them now is just camoflage.

Will the homeless people be getting bikes and Starbucks lattes too?

This will only help sales. Now that the homeless are wearing them the hipster set will start wearing them because wearing them has now become ironic.

Hipsters wouldn't be caught dead in A&F even ironically.

Hopefully he never wears A&F. Look at him. He's ****ing gross. Like some kind of spongy melty dough man.

On the one hand, I hate seeing homeless people being used as a pawn in silly games like this.

On the other hand, the homeless can always use more clothes.  And Jeffries is a huge douche.

The only thing the CEO did wrong was saying his marketing strategy out loud and with zero tact. Everything else is standard marketing practice.

Nobody likes poor, ugly, fat people or the brands associated with them. See: People of Wal-mart.

Heh.  At a church youth rally I once attended, someone had managed to get a hold of a rather large bag of Izod "alligators" and was handing them out for people to pin or sew to whatever clothing they pleased.  Yeah, I know, intellectual property theft, but the Catholic church was a lot more socialist back then.

2013-05-15 06:20:13 PM
I'm not sure giving them to people that everyone goes out of their way to avoid looking at is going to work.

Don't speak of Hooters so.  Because before wings became something that every bar had, Hooter was were you went for wings.  The local brew pub had now surpassed them, but for awhile they were a bright spot.

/supposedly their new menu with the non frozen wings is pretty good

Great. Malnourished homeless women should have no problem fitting into any clothes they get from A&F. This just proves the point that homeless chicks are better in the sack than fat chicks.

Isn't that because you wouldn't be caught wearing them, so they sit in the closet unused?

Aren't homeless people really a step up from Hipsters? I mean, they're really everything a hipster wants to be except they don't have moms basement to go back too at night.

Strange, colleges in general are more accepting of gay men so beards are not always needed. I hope people have become more accepting of who you are.

To an earlier post, I agree that it is just a marketing strategy that was shared non eloquently. The strategy is fine, not everyone should be a target market. Do you think Restoration Hardware wants to see their sheets as trailer park curtains?

Hot Topic excludes me, I think they need more chinos. I'm going to protest.

2013-05-15 06:48:12 PM
Hooters makes a damn good burger and if I didn't give all my money to the attractive waitresses I might eat there more often.

2013-05-15 06:50:40 PM
You know, this plan is just going to backfire.  Kids will start looking up to homeless people as cool, and stop bathing and use shopping carts to carry their books to school instead of backpacks.  And A&F sill sell more than ever.
