Yes, Barack Obama is personally responsible for how the IRS handles paperwork, how the DoJ handles leaks, and micromanaging the security staff at every consulate on Earth.

But the Commander-in-Chief of the US military ISN'T responsible for a high-risk, secret military operation (which he helped plan) to capture or kill America's #1 enemy.

^ THIS IS WHAT REPUBLICANS ACTUALLY BELIEVE.

Here's the thing that kills me: the President not really being down with the day-to-day operations of the DOJ and IRS is ideal. That's the way it should be. Granted, he should have strong leadership in place there in order to guide things in a responsible, legal manner, but the president should not be involved in operations.

o5iiawah: Corvus: What's the difference for the cuts Republicans are calling for and the failed austerity plans of Europe?

because even republican "Cuts" arent actual cuts in the budget - they are cuts in the overall rate of growth.  A reduction in the deficit is still overspending.  That is not Austerity.

Europe has no choice but for Austerity.  The Euro isn't the global reserve currency so they cant just print however many euro they want in order to keep things afloat.

Just ask someone to explain what Austerity is, since you havent the slightest farking clue.

I think somebody here is mistaken in believing expansionary fiscal contraction is not a form of Austerity. So, in layman's terms, there is not much difference between what the GOP proposes and what was applied in Europe. There are differences, but still, Austerity measures of any kind don't actually work.

Of course, as Whidbey said, you are a climate-change denier, so in a way I will take your advice on what Austerity with the same weighted credibility I reserve for people who don't believe in Oxygen or think the world is really 6000 years old.

Thanks to the GOP winning the House and taking a hard line on the budget and over-spending.

That's funny that you think the cuts are why the economy is back on track.  VERY cute.

/looks over at Europe to check how austerity works out in a recession

That is really funny!
You are implying that there are only two modes:  overspending and austerity.
That is why we can't have nice things.  Fiscal responsibility is considered to be austerity by people like you.

Directed by Obama
Jobs are going okay  When people drop off the dole because they can't find a job, the numbers always look better
The Job numbers are up. Don't lie.
DOW is up  Obama runs Wall Street?
Because of the improving economy
Healthcare bill is passed so poor people won't die  Just wait until that turd gets to the top of the punch bowl.
It is better than poor people dying in the street because they can't afford healthcare.
Ending the war in Afghanistan  Really? It's over?  The brown people love us?
We are withdrawing all troops.
Improving the economy despite the GOP obstructing everything  Might want to let the folks in Detroit know how well things are going.
Detroit has been that way since the riots. Stop being disingenuous
Lower deficit  Hahahahaaa...you're not serious.

tenpoundsofcheese: Because the GOP didn't win the House until the shellacking of 2010 and because they can't fix everything at once.

The GOP got elected in 2010 because of JOBS. When they got into office, they were an bunch of idiots who focused on destroying medicare, attacking women's health and the right to choice, union-busting, making sure brown and black people couldn't vote, tanking the economy and lowering our trade rating, reminiscing about Ronald Reagan, destroying medicare, pretending there is no problem with guns in this country, sucking the cock of big oil companies while hating on gays, and BENGHAZI. Needless to say, the GOP lost the senate and Romney got his dancing horse served to him with a side of mashed potatoes. And the GOP has learned NOTHING since then.

So no, 2014, you guys are losing the house. Your only hope really of keeping the house is the fact that you gerrymandered the hell out of districts. The GOP is farther in the weeds than the Democratic Party was in the 80's.

Is the White House responsible for the micro-managing of an IRS office in Cincinnati? No. The attack in Benghazi? Maybe a little bit, but not at the level of "scandal." This witch hunt has been going on for 5 years -- the "hunters" have lost all credibility in their search for something to get fired up over. Even if they stumbled onto an actual scandal, most of the country wouldn't believe them.

No one can sit there and believe that the CEO of Union Carbide is responsible for what his underlings did but Obama isnt responsible for what his underlings do.

The CEO of Union Carbide and Obama both are morally responsible for the conduct of their underlings only if:

1) they had prior knowledge of it, and failed to stop it, or

2) they knew about it afterwards, and explicitly or implicitly ratified it, or

3) they created a culture or incentives within their organizations which encouraged what their underlings did, whether or not they knew about it in advance, or ratified it afterwards.
