I'm going to have to know what kind of truck it was before I can be outraged.

You can use the skid loader for dialysis if you know what you're doing...

The wife was a smoother ride, but really anything else would have better hauling capability.

It's always fun to see my home county on Fark. The stories usually remind me why I left.

Then I see stories about my current location on Fark and realize I haven't done any better by moving here.

The real tragedy here is that dialysis treatment costs $530K.  really? $530K to hook you up to a glorified oil filter?

Looks like I chose the wrong profession.

FYI dialysis  costs about $600 per 4 hour treatment. This is needed 3 times a week so the cost is about $1800 per week. 94k a year.

False.

Dialysis BILLS YOU $600 per four hour treatment. It has to cost less.

Have a friend with a daughter who has CP.

About 30 years ago the daughter was getting therapy and my friend took the daughter to rehab facility and they turned them away.

Friend asked 'why?' and was told the bills weren't being paid.

She went to her husband who was in charge paying their bills and asked him what was going on.

He was taking the insurance checks and buying pot - lots and lots of pot - with the money.

And yet she's stayed married to that POS to this day.

Wow....Just......WOW. He is a POS. And it doesn't matter what the state of healthcare is in the country. That is just unfathomably selfish.

This fits in with:
Give a man a fish he eats for a day.........
Besides, obviously the dialysis was just a temp bandaid and she was doomed to die
With the truck and skip loader he can get on with his life and earn a living
Except the whole jail and restitution thing, that kinds puts his plan in the dumpster
Nice try though
My guess is poor execution

Yeah, and we should totally charge people for food, in spite of the fact that they starve TO DEATH without it. And we should totally charge people for rent/mortgage, in spite of the fact that people will die of exposure without it.

We really should just give everyone everything they ever want, without any cost to them, all subsidized by the FARKing unicorns and pixie dust.

Approximately $450,000 per 6 months for home hemodialysis.

We get statements every month, and the amount just amazes me.

I don't understand why she was getting checks, though.   Our bills go to Medicare and the supplemental.   The only bills we have to pay are the copays, medicine copays and the Part B and supplemental insurance bills.

I am sadly a dialysis patient in Canada, and I have paid exactly zilch for the equipment, medication and doctor visits related to that. I have a home dialysis widget plus about 30 boxes of assorted dialysis bits in my apartment and I haven't paid a penny. Unless you count the pennies paid in various taxes hitherto, of course. And that is money well spent. I would rather pay 13% tax on my poutine and get it back later than cough up 900k a year. What evil sadist decided that was a good idea anyway?
"Right, you need to pay 900k a year to live. Haven't got that kind of money? Sucks to be you, I guess. Try not to be born poor next time, poor man."

/Dialysis sucks
//Free dialysis does not suck
