Well let me get this out of the way first: We don't need no water, let the mother farker burn!

Now that I got a good chance to read the article and look at the pics...HOLY SHIAT I KNOW THAT HOUSE AND THE GUY THAT GREW THERE!

He had a pretty big operation going, tons of plants in the second story (at least 40 large plants and a ton of little clones).

One of my friends said he was there one day just pruning and clipping buds when he decided to go to the store. Goes to the garage, opens the door, and like 15 DEA guys in full gear roll under and bust him immediately. Pretty sure he's still locked up.

Don't show this article to a guy I was in a debate with last week.  His whole argument against marijuana is that illegal grow operations cause fires.  And he's a volunteer firefighter.  This is probably the first time I've ever heard of a grow operation going up in flames, it's usually a meth house exploding.  I tried to explain to him that the only reason people set up illegal grow operations is because prohibition creates a black market, but he wouldn't listen.  His whole argument was because it's illegal it must be bad.  Can't argue with stupid.

Well, you can, but then they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Uh, you could state that since illegal setups have to be hush-hush, the growers either resort to do-it-yourself, or get buddy who did electrical with his dad years ago (there are cases of getting skilled/partly skilled electricians to work lucrative amounts, but that's rare enough)

But if legal, there'd be regulation/people wouldn't have to do a half/assed job and risk the place burning down

/just a thought
//just because some suits says something is bad, doesn't make it so
///if anyone says otherwise, research "dumb laws"

What happened to the 6 lbs?

legalize it and let it grow outside like it naturally did for thousands of years. Geez.

but weed is natural, right?  so if you believe God created all, then he created weed as well.

I have used this logic a few times on my "faith-filled" friends and they always try to counter with the hemp v. MJ argument, at which point I ask why they are not in favor of hemp being legalized. They then invariably go to the "well, they (the police) can't tell the difference so we should make sure none of it is grown."  As most of this particular crowd is of the Tea Party variety, I ask why they are so down on the government telling them what to do but will swallow the "Just Say No" b.s. without a blink.  Always ends the same way - lot of grumbling and trying to change the subject as quickly as possible.

Well actually illegal grows are a huge fire hazard. Heck even legal grows can be a fire hazard if you don't have the wiring done properly. Grow fires were a fairly common occurrence when I lived in Humboldt. You could generally count on one a month in Arcata alone. But yes it is a dumb argument against legalization.

Well if we were legal everywhere decent people wouldn't have to buy it from skeevy sociopaths....

Hate to break it to you.  But yeah, it's a very common thing.

Grow ops DO cause fires.

Usually electrical.  Which is what happens when you put 198 amps worth of grow equipment on a 200 amp mains breaker.

Wild guess: grower paid an arsonist (through jail/seller contacts) to torch it for insurance to pay for his legal defense.

More reasonable guess: even when "clean" an amateur wiring job setting up the grow lights is risky and prone to faults.

A brilliantly funny comedian comes up with a very witty comment about how the amount of marijuana seized by cops tends to decrease in size.

Later on, a moderately humorous dude makes a funny comment about how pot in police custody tends to shrink.

Then some half-wit makes a tired joke about how reported amounts of cannabis tend to get smaller over time.

Finally, some Farker beats to hell the tired farking meme about how ganja captured by the fuzz tends to decrease in volume due to *heh, heh* pilfering.

/Smokey the Stoner Bear says: Only YOU can stop this idiotic meme about shrinking pot seizures!

and?  not sure what your point is.  grizzly bears and sharks are natural too.  and no one has ever said, I swam near a shark and that interaction caused me to make some bad mistakes.  they say - the shark bit my farking leg off!  so should we just go out and destroy all the sharks?  or should we learn - hey that thing deserves to be treated with respect and not everyone should be near those things.  you know, act like an adult about the natural things around us.
