CynicalLA: Bill Frist: Strategeryz0r: I still don't understand why they're bringing back Arrested Development and not Firefly. Does Arrested Development still have fan conventions? Hell no. I don't see people dressing up as any of the Bluth's for any reason! Yet Halloween rolls around and I see half a dozen people dressed as Mal.

Netflix, you made the wrong choice. And when you finally premiere this abomination of a season for a show that literally couldn't go anywhere else, I will be sitting here laughing my ass off as this experiment bankrupts you!

Because Arrested Development is one of the greatest comedies of all the time and the Firefly is at best "pretty good" but has dumb nerd fans?

That's how you troll.

Honestly not a troll, as I"m 100% serious. I think AD is easily one of the greatest TV comedies*, at least scripted ones. Firefly was a okay kinda fun TV show that hardly warrants mention among the greatest TV shows.

Joss Wehdon's rabid fandom is a bit of a mystery to me. I get that a lot of SF/F fanboys have really low bars for artist to clear, but with all the great SF/F work out there these days who can honestly watch some totally bland film like the Avengers and think "THIS is important!"

(*really what's the competition? The Simpsons during its golden era? Seinfeld? Curb?)

A netflix exec explained it recently. iirc, "the audience for Arrested Development has expanded over the years, but the audience for Firefly has stayed the same or become even smaller."

Plus, no special effects budget for A.D. is necessary.

I took time off work and drove two states away just to attend one of the early Serenity screenings.  Got to watch the movie surrounded by diehard, cosplaying fans with surprise guest Nathan Fillion sitting in the audience and watchin the movie with us, then having a Q&A after.  I say this as a big fan:

It's over, Firefly is never coming back.  Let it go.

Even among RECENT fantasy and science fiction shows, I'd rank Firefly behind BSG, Game of Thrones, Futurama (if that counts), and others, and it certainly has nothing on Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, or a whole host of other truly great shows.

It's almost deliberately found art when someone gets filterpwn'd in an almost deliberately incoherent post. Like.

Geeks Who Drink did an Arrested Development night and there were people dressed as Bluths. It was also jam packed, standing room only.
