I have a live 40mm grenade sitting on my desk. Well, the primer was struck so it was a dud.

How else would you bring it home after stumbling across it in the woods?

keep these guys away from hammers.

Idiots should detonate those before hoisting them up on their shoulder like that.  They're much easier to carry after they've gone kablooie.

Or, you know, they could be props for something and they're transporting them. Did you bother to ask?

I like how they withheld the name of that nosy self centered tw@t who "reported" it.

They're taking them back to their council house to sell to the local Johnny Jihadi...

Why is everybody afraid of these guys? They were just taking their shells for a walk. No biggie.

Funny, I thought they all went un-cut over there?

How does the MOD know they're live? They could be cardboard tubes for all anyone knows.

Left shoulder arms, right shoulder arms.

Isn't an unexploded bomb just a bomb?  It's shrapnel if it done blowed up.  And pocket sized.

Good thing they weren't carrying one of these around:

You need a howizter to launch those shells. If you have an AT-4 tube, you can shoot down the ISS.

Might want to remove the gold tape and replace it with black or black with yellow bands if you want to instill fear.

It is not yet certain whether the 120-millimetre tank shells were live bombs, with the MOD adding it was hard to discern from the photo.

Aren't AT-4's unguided? You'd have to be a terrific farking shot to hit the ISS with one of those.

Because when they explode, you want them to take out your head first to minimize any suffering.  Duh!

I'll venture to guess that you know very little about firearms and ordinance. I bought it off the shelf at the army surplus store. A 40mm grenade is very similar to a large shotgun shell and from this faint blue paint I would imagine it was a practice round so there's no danger of fragmentation.

Funny thought though...

Well, if it's a tank shell, it's not a bomb, is it?  Am I the only person with any logical reasoning anymore?  Are the terms being used in some uncommon manor?

I generally don't keep up with war-porn, but I can't tell if this is an in-joke or something.  According to the Wikipedia entry they are sight-shot and have an effective and maximum range of 200 and 2100m respectively..

Well that, and it's just an empty tube. I think there was an article a while back where someone turned in a fired tube (which is pretty much now just a hunk of fiberglass and plastic) and the police agency was all like "peoples turning in the rockets! OMGs!" You can buy the empty tubes for around $200(?) at many surplus stores. They arn't reusuable.

And they only way you'd hit the ISS with one, is if you were floating right outside it.

Astorix: keep these guys away from hammers.

I dated a guy from Vietnam a long time ago. He told me a story of how he and his friends found a landmine when they were about 7. His friend decided to hit it with a hammer. It did not end well. My ex-bf had to hold in his guts and his friend was all in and around a tree. War is horrible.
