I was going to respond that, after seeing what this farked up show did to my local Greek restaurant that the producers probably screwed these people over, but there's no way producers invented that. Holy crap. They didn't have to stage a thing here.

FYI, I think Netflix streaming only has seasons 1&2 up currently. Just check Youtube for the split (2-part) episode.

It's on hulu.  It was epic.

Yes, it was. Best US episode I have seen so far, but I haven't seen too many of them anyways. I have never felt so stabby in my life after watching that mess.

The two parter this season was awesome too.  Gordon just oozed contempt for the bragging little bastard.

WIN!! That was awesome, but I really dislike the censor beeps. Ramsey likes to cuss, so a lot is missed by me with the annoying beeps.

scandalrag: Vodka Zombie: wildcardjack: RickN99: Endive Wombat: 1. If this place isn't a money laundering operation, I don't know what is.

I wouldn't think a normal strategy for concealing a money-laundering operation was to request to be on a national TV show showing how you run your operation.

It's to give cover for all the real wash shops. Everyone's looking at this one instead of the italian place that doesn't even serve decent pizza.

Man...  I miss the pizzeria by my old house that was shut down as a money-laundering outfit.  As criminal as their business was, they did make a damn good pizza.

Money launderers generally have great food for reasonable prices.  After all, if you don't care about making a profit, you can spend for high quality ingredients and pay the cook a little extra.

\These idiots aren't laundering money.
\\You have to have enough customers to cover for the fake sales and expenses.
\\\Also, National TV.

Right near me us a place that serves up excellent food to the central city clientele. Good food, cheap prices, in a poor area. If he's laundering money, at least he's doing some good at the same time.

I could never get into the U.S version of Kitchen Nightmares since the overall production aesthetic of any episode is one that reeks of "manufactured drama", but goddamn, this particular episode sure delivered.

You watch some of the older British episodes, and after a bad meal and observing a dinner service, when Gordon goes on his "alright, we need to X, Y, and Z in order for this restaurant to become successful (which is almost always centered around STOP BUYING EXPENSIVE AND OUT OF SEASON INGREDIENTS AND USE YOUR LOCAL PRODUCERS)" rant, the owner and head chef about 50% of time just go "oh, ok, sure, whatever you say Chef. When do we start?"

Endive Wombat: This was by far the strangest episode I've ever seen.  I would like to know if there were any other factors that lead to Gordon leaving...like the speculation on Reddit about the place being a front for money laundering (see below).

As I stated in another TFD thread concerning the "hacking":

The consequences will never be the same once the Cyber Police get involved in back tracing the alleged hacking.

Also, reposting from a thread on Reddit, a guy makes a pretty interesting point about this place being a front for money laundering:

1. If this place isn't a money laundering operation, I don't know what is.

2. Sammy screamed 'Don't call the police'. This was one of the only things he really stood up to his wife on. I think Sammy is involved in serious criminal shiat and he doesn't want Johnny Law to come poking around and causing any disruptions to the money losing business here. I'm not sure if the fact that they don't trust anyone else to run the place has anything to do with that, or whether they're just nuts. If they were smarter, I feel like they could let it run itself. See point #4 for a possible reason for that.

3. The place is clearly hemorrhaging money. All those fresh veggies come at a huge premium in Arizona and no one is buying them since no one eats there. This is a tactic to inflate food costs and make the on-the-books profits (from crime) a bit more believable. You have high prices and 'quality ingredients' and on its face, it looks like a classy place dealing in high-quality, high-margin food that's doing very, very well. In reality, they're buying top-dollar with dirty money and selling nothing.

4. Putting all of that money into the facilities, kitchen equipment and the dining area is a way to build tangible equity in a property, paid for by dirty money, of course. This is similar to how house flipping has become the new Las Vegas for cleaning dirty money. Even if you put 100k of criminal money into a house and sell it for 80k, you still mad ...

13. They believe in fitness.

Also the cleanliness of the kitchen isn't usually a part of the show, because the British show is about the food and not America's germaphobia. I loved the British one, not so much the US one.

Wow, this really just makes you want them to fail, be sued, go to jail and lose everything. If I lived nearby, I'd poop in a white foam cup, go up to Amy and ask why this was at the counter. I'd have a confused look and ask her what it is, she'd take a whiff and immediately vomit. She would run around yelling WHY WHY WHY? I'd yell at her for pooping in a cup and trying to give it to me to consume. Then I would take the cup and show other customers, then finally throw the cup at her and run away. So if someone nearby could do that for me please I'd appreciate it, or just leave poop on her car seat, I bet she has a convertible.

The things people are adding as tags to the stolen pictures are hilarious.  What I don't understand is why they stole these pictures and posted them in the first place.  If someone actually tried to order one of these cakes, they couldn't produce it.  Very weird.

Yep. Good restaurant. Kitchen Nightmares provided them nothing of value and succeeded in making them look like fools even if most of it was manufactured. For instance, the fridge full of rotting food: the producers made them turn the fridge off so the lights and equipment could be plugged into the restaurant's circuit without tripping the breaker. Amazing that food spoils when not refrigerated. Sure, you could give the owners a hard time for not anticipating this but it's not like having rotting food in the fridge is a normal occurrence for them.
