Vodka Zombie: wildcardjack: RickN99: Endive Wombat: 1. If this place isn't a money laundering operation, I don't know what is.

I wouldn't think a normal strategy for concealing a money-laundering operation was to request to be on a national TV show showing how you run your operation.

It's to give cover for all the real wash shops. Everyone's looking at this one instead of the italian place that doesn't even serve decent pizza.

Man...  I miss the pizzeria by my old house that was shut down as a money-laundering outfit.  As criminal as their business was, they did make a damn good pizza.

Money launderers generally have great food for reasonable prices.  After all, if you don't care about making a profit, you can spend for high quality ingredients and pay the cook a little extra.

\These idiots aren't laundering money.
\\You have to have enough customers to cover for the fake sales and expenses.
\\\Also, National TV.

Endive Wombat: This was by far the strangest episode I've ever seen.  I would like to know if there were any other factors that lead to Gordon leaving...like the speculation on Reddit about the place being a front for money laundering (see below).

I just heard from someone that they both have criminal records-- Amy apparently was involved with some sort of loan fraud with stolen social security numbers. I haven't been able to substantiate that, I'm just getting into this whole sage fairly late.

I don't think a woman like that would ever get her mouth near anyone else's crotch.

Endive Wombat: Because the thing is, at the end of the day, he can just make up checks and bills and act like all these customers came in and paid them lots of money for food, but just as long as the place isn't completely empty all the time and then reporting big profits, there shouldn't be any huge red flags so as long as the taxes keep coming into the IRS and the place keeps a quiet reputation. But SOMEBODY just had to call Ramsey and blow the whole cover....

I don't know. Sounds like that redditer has been watching too much Breaking Bad.

I just don't think it matters to these people how much money they're hemorraging.

The money laundering theory makes sense.
The business is obviously a money looser, why keep it around?  As a source to conceal dirty money, makes pretty good sense to me.  Sammi has a criminal past.  His other business is pretty shady.  The dots are all there, just got to connect em.

Yes, Amy's thing is 100% true. You can find the court case online (some farker linked to it in the other thread). She goes by a different name though.

Not sure if Samy actually does have a criminal past (or present), or if he's just all talk.

Bf+: scottydoesntknow: Bf+: I kept telling myself that these were actors; That they were hoping for a SoupNazi-like reputation for their resaurant, and maybe even a reality TV show.  No one can be that much of a biatch and no one has that fake an accent.  Sure, there may exist some people with such pathological avoidance issues as this, but there's no way they could operate a restaurant.  I'm still not sure.  Poe's law, maybe, but there is no way to generate more of an internet scandal/meme than exactly what they are doing.

On the other hand, there are for more mentally ill people than there are actors this convincing.

The difference between them and the Soup Nazi is that his soup was so good it was worth dealing with his attitude.

They've got a Soup Nazi attitude without the actual soup to back it up.

That may be so, but I'm sure his (The Soup Nazi's) attitude brought plenty of attention and business.  There are plenty of other restaurants whose insulting of customers is the main draw.  Helps to have decent food, of course, but if you want to get on TV, serve the pizza uncooked, confront the customer, fire employees, and make a big scene...

Dick's Last Resort. But the food at Dick's is good, and the insulting is... not personal. You know it's their schtick. These two narcissists really mean it.

I just sort of figured he had a bunch of money (mob money?) and she's kind of hot I guess, so he grabbed a trophy wife and let her "Follow her dream" of running a restaraunt so he gets to hit that.

Eirik: Lady Indica: impaler: [i.huffpost.com image 570x207]

Filing false police reports is crime, is it not?

/can't wait for the "update" on this story.

You think they actually called anyone? They also claimed they'd call the cops on customers who were refusing to pay. After the owner put his hands on someone (and I swear to god, if someone did that to my bff, they'd get a farking chair across their back, he's lucky he didn't get flattened out by those guys taking a poke at them like that) they DEMANDED they call the cops.

Of course they didn't. They simply threw them out screaming while she 'pretended' to call multiple times.

They just use threats and intimidation to try to bully people. They even posted a fake Reddit thread where Reddit users were claiming 'we'd better stop guys! the police just contacted me!'

/This isn't the internet's first rodeo

One of the local papers to the restaurant interviewed the diner who got into the dispute with the owner.  Apparently, the police did show up in response to a 911 hangup, but determined that there wasn't anything to worry about and no police report was filed.

Wow, that's even more awesome. So she WAS calling when Samy screamed at her not to, and she stopped.

/crams in more popcorn.

2013-05-15 02:04:43 PM

Somaticasual: In fairness, the speech patterns were totally different. Her angry post on yelp, though idiotic, was at least well articulated and reasoned (even if douchey). The all caps posts were what you'd expect from a mentally-handicapped /B/ hacker doing it for the lulz. Most people don't drop that many IQ points when they're angry..

I think with the one on yelp she took time to write out the full thing, but now they just keep coming so I don't think they are stopping to proof read what they are saying and are letting emotion take over. That or she did the post on yelp and Sammy is doing the ones on facebook, etc.

I would have no doubt either way, but to me this seems like them not being able to stop, and suddenly realizing what was going on and trying to cover it up

Honestly what I think the 'hack' claims are about are the fake facebook pages and fake twitter accounts that popped up, along with pics being posted to Yelp (like a guy taking a shiat on the sidewalk as their biz pic). I could be wrong, but that's what I suspect. And they're just broadening it out as they do everything to try to cover their asses and make themselves appear as the victims.

But fark if I know that biatch be cray cray.

The biggest question for me is who was able to talk them into pretending they were hacked and admitting the things they said were "terrible"?  Based on what I saw on the show and the local news story about the original Yelp review, this is not the kind of woman who will EVER admit she was wrong or said/did something inappropriate.  Someone must have laid the hammer down for her.
