FirstNationalBastard: the bestest Time Lord ever

I'm sorry, my dear boy, but did you say something? I was busy reversing the polarity of the neutron flow and, well...saving the universe.

There's already 13 incarnations.

mokinokaro: That's exactly what it was James.

They hired him for one year because they weren't sure if the show would be back.   So, of course he lined up other work for after.   Once his tenet was up he wanted to return but already had other commitments.

Not according to Eccleston:

I left Doctor Who because I could not get along with the senior people. I left because of politics. I did not see eye to eye with them. I didn't agree with the way things were being run. I didn't like the culture that had grown up around the series....
I thought to remain, which would have made me a lot of money and given me huge visibility. The price I would have had to pay was to eat a lot of sh*t. I'm not being funny about that. I didn't want to do that and, it comes to the art of it, in a way.... We are vulnerable as actors and we are constantly humiliating ourselves auditioning. But if you allow that to go on on a grand scale., you will lose whatever it is about you, and it will be present in your work....
You've got to have standards, no matter how hard work that is.... It's easy to find a job when you've got no morals, you've got nothing to be compromised....
I'm sure they were glad to see the back of me. The important thing is that I succeeded. It was a great part. I loved playing [the Doctor]. I loved connecting with that audience. Because I've always acted for adults and then suddenly, you're acting for children. Who are far more tasteful, they will not be bullshiatted

Not to worry. Moffat already put this issue of only having 12 regenerations to rest!! To paraphrase: Don't worry we'll do what we always do, we'll make something up.

PizzaJedi81: Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing an older Doctor after Matt Smith.

And considering that Smith's Doctor is an old man in a young one's body, it'd be fun to see a young man in an old man's body.

James!: AdolfOliverPanties: So...a huge farking spoiler headline goes green?  Nice work, subby and modmins.  Assholes.

Is it a spoiler if you can find out by just checking IMDB?

Sure.  If it is show info that hasn't aired yet, in a show with tons of mysteries and possible spoilers, it still is one.

What's next, someone posts the actual name of the Doctor from those early released DVDs and Fark insta-greens it?

/I'm betting John Hurt will play the 8th Doctor, much older, who regenerates into Eccleston.  So Ecc is still the 9th.

James!: The Stealth Hippopotamus: AnotherBluesStringer: I'll go along with John Hurt's Doctor regenerating into Eccleston during or immediately after the Time War. I'm okay with that. I'm NOT okay with not getting to see how or why it happened. Give me a special or something.

Eccleston only could put up with it for one year and he told 'em to go to hell on the 50th Anniversary special. You think he'd come back for one off special?

I don't see that happening.

What was his gripe?

He was only contracted for one series and he was pretty pissed off by how BBC treated him and the cast. So he said fark it and didn't renew.

Hey, psst...I don't think he meant it. I think Moffatt was farking with fanwank theories and future casting of the Doctor by saying that, no, there was a Doctor in between 8 and 9.

TheGrayCat: James!: I'd love to see Paul McGann again.  He's had a pretty prolific run in the books and comics.

I'd love to see Paul McGann again. He is pretty.

Did you watch Luther?
