(TV3 (Ireland))   Moffat trolls Doctor Who fans to the max by naming John Hurt the 9th Doctor in the 50th Anniversary, thus reshuffling Eccleston as the 10th, Tennant as the 11th, and Smith as the 12th   (tv3.ie ) divider line

I figured out why The Doctor is sexually attracted to Clara. Time Lords hit puberty when they reach 1000 years old.

PizzaJedi81: FirstNationalBastard: Shalka Doctor was brought back into canon.

See, that's why I ignored it.

If they're doing that, why not make Rowan Atkinson 9, Richard E. Grant 10, Jim Broadbent 11, Hugh Grant 11, Joana Lumley 12, Eccleston 13, etc?

I also heard Shakla wasn't very good.

Thank you. Came here to point out the first female Doctor. *salutes*

Coco LaFemme: Didn't Moffat initially say that John Hurt was playing PART of a Doctor? My guess would be The Valeyard. The comment about Hurt playing the 9th Doctor came from The Sun, which is the UK's National Enquirer. I don't believe it one bit.

Yes, part of the Doctor, just like the Dreamlord was part of the Doctor. I've also heard that (spoiler) the Doctor's personal timeline gets severly messed with and this New Nine might be a glitch that results from the efforts to repair it.

PizzaJedi81: AdolfOliverPanties: So...a huge farking spoiler headline goes green?  Nice work, subby and modmins.  Assholes.

Hey, psst...I don't think he meant it. I think Moffatt was farking with fanwank theories and future casting of the Doctor by saying that, no, there was a Doctor in between 8 and 9.

I agree. Having read the spoilers for "The Name of the Doctor," this notion of Hurt being the Ninth can be both true and false.

How? Because timey wimey, that's why. Please keep in mind that Doctor Who is NOT a show for continuity nerds.

James!: TheGrayCat: James!: I'd love to see Paul McGann again.  He's had a pretty prolific run in the books and comics.

Did you watch Luther?

Did somebody say Luther?

And oddly enough, Richard E. Grant (the "Tenth" Doctor in "Curse of the Fatal Death) was also the official "Ninth" Doctor (the Shakla Doctor) until Eccleston became the Doctor and it was made official that he was the Ninth. Now Grant is back and he is pissed as he is The Great Intelligence!

Ok, I'm clearly not geek enough for this.

Is that from a BBC promo for Lutherfollowing  Doctor Who or something? Idris Elba definitely has the chops to play a Time Lord (he might be a little wasted on that given some of the scripts I've seen produced for Doctor Who though...).
