I think it was P.J. O'Rourke who noted that we're so clueless as to how bad things are in Bangladesh that we could read a headline claiming "200,000 die in Bangladesh train accident" and not think "that's impossible" but instead think "Oh my God, how did it happen?"

Well if the sea water levels are to rise, Bangladesh will be one of the first to be flooded almost entirely. That region just had to get the shortest stick.

It is just going to keep happening.

"Roughly 80% of the landmass is made up of fertile alluvial lowland called the Bangladesh Plain. The plain is part of the larger Plain of Bengal, which is sometimes called the Lower Gangetic Plain. Although altitudes up to 105 meters above sea level occur in the northern part of the plain, most elevations are less than 10 meters above sea level; elevations decrease in the coastal south, where the terrain is generally at sea level. With such low elevations and numerous rivers, water-and concomitant flooding-is a predominant physical feature. About 10,000 square kilometers of the total area of Bangladesh is covered with water, and larger areas are routinely flooded during the monsoon season. "

Geography of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh, where so many people are dying fast, it sure looks like a mess.  I've never seen such distress.

That would be an improvement for Bangladesh.

Normal life there is much, much worse than the Sharknado.

And this is why I cannot seem to muster sympathy for the annual "OMG! Floods in Bangledesh kill thousands!"

Why, are you tempted to look something up?  Last time I did that, for a quick check mind you, I look away from my monitor and it was tomorrow morning.

It's like that damned butterfly in the Amazon that causes all the hurricanes, only if a butterfly flapping it's itsy bitsy wings can spawn a hurricane, imagine what a large bear can do with a massive belch.
