"This is no little thing," McConnell told Breitbart News on Monday. "This is a big thing. The good news about it is they finally got caught. They finally messed with an agency everybody fully understands. When they try to quiet the critics through other agencies, it doesn't get attention. This does. Everybody understands the IRS and how powerful they are. This is just one example of an administration-wide effort to silence critics."

He's such a transparently opportunistic weasel. This is all about an unpopular Senator in reelection year latching himself on to a some low-hanging red meat for his base. It'll never happen, but I'd love to see Obama call McConnell by name for trying to connect him to the problems in the IRS.

I was unaware that the IRS possessed the legal authority to assassinate American citizens without due process like other agencies of the government do.

That is because their ability to mind control and erase memories of witnesses to such assassinations.  They are that powerful.

What agency did Obama use for the New Town School Shooting and the Boston Marathon Bombing? McConnell should be focusing on that.

But I was lead to believe that the Tea Parties weren't "conservative" but really a disparate group of regular citizens from all political spectrums who are just fed up by their unfair tax burden.

Don't tell me this is just another Republican lie.

Because I will be shocked.

I think the Republican have underestimated their base. Most of them can't walk and chew gum. How can they derp about two scandals at one once?

It's about taxes, the IRS and the Tea Party. We might as well put a white wig on Obama and call him King George. The excitement on the right over being "victimized" by Big Gummint this way is so palpable I'm afraid they're going to burst a vessel.

Congress gave the IRS the nearly impossible task of deciding what constitutes "political activity", which was ridiculous to begin with, the IRS crudely messed with the crazy Tea Party and now we're all screwed. Link

Is it a terrible thing when the govt drags it's feet doing it's job? because the republicans have been dragging their feet since Jan 2009 on everything.
the only thing they seem to be able to so is make impotent votes to overturn something they already passed.
they won't approve appointments.

Is it possible this was one of uses for the Tea Party? To make the IRS look bad? Create a victim? It's like coming up with a charity called "free drugs for hookers" and then wondering why the cops show up. Sure, it could have been a group giving penicillin to ex-hookers, but the name screams dishonest activity. This entire thing looks like a set-up. Bush's guy put this in place and then as soon as he retired the story broke. Looks fishy to me. Study it out.

well they passed a law saying all these tax exempt filings had to be reviewed.
they cut funding to the IRS
they had their SCOTUS approve of Citizens United
then when all these new groups started popping up because they were now allowed to make unlimited anonymous donations and the IRS was overrun with applications they whine because the IRS tried to prioritize potential suspect groups. it was basically profiling. but it made sense to someone to do it this way. (I would agree with it personally) but it ran afoul of the equal rights loving GOP

In respect to the modified talking points scandal (Bengazi), I was thinking about Condoleza's speech at Cincinnati where she implied Cincinnati could be hit with a nuclear bomb if we didn't invade Iraq.  For a moment I slipped into full conspiratorial mode than thought...
What if the media and people didn't support the Iraq war, would they plant (or even set off) a 'suitcase nuke' just to prove how vulnerable we were?  The I realized that is crazy and they wouldn't do that after they almost got caught bombing the pentagon.

Yeah, I find it fascinating that they are more concerned with proving that the Obama administration is evil than going after the people who actually committed the attack.

But I think some of it is the Muslim thing. So many conservatives believe that Obama cares more about foreign Muslims than he does about Americans that I think they are convinced there is something more sinister going on here, that somehow Obama wanted Benghazi to happen, and if they keep digging it will turn up.

Yeah, I can't believe how some people just deny deny deny in a lame attempt to keep this quiet.  I mean, it's not a huge scandal, because it's really just a story about some overreaching GS9 in Bumblefark, North Derpistan letting his biases override his sense, and the organization he works for discovering it, saying it was wrong, starting an investigation, and  admitting it all publicly. But still, at least it's a real scandal, even if it only rates one and a half Benghazis.

Here's the problem. The GOP, with their desperate attempts to try to throw anything they can at the wall to see what sticks, true or not, has completely devalued the idea of a scandal.
