I'm still unclear on who invented the nacho hat.

mmmmm nachos *drool*

i also quickly perused an article linked at the bottom concerning the lack of ice in beverages overseas. one of my favorite mundane subjects, and one of the reasons i had almost no culture shock upon arriving to my first duty station (ramstein) in the airforce, and HUGE culture shock when i went back home on leave.

i don't like ice in most beverages, especially if they are chilled prior to being poured in my cup. it's redundant to chill pre-chilled items, when it warms it waters-down the beverage, and it takes up room. the only exception i have at restaurants or at home is sweet iced tea.

i also prefer cold-from-the-tap water with no ice, or room temp bottled water.

Ballpark nachos? Come to Busch to watch the Cards play and get yourself some pulled pork supreme nachos from the nacho bar on the concourse behind home plate.

Chips
Cheese Sauce
Taco/nacho beef
1/4 lb Pulled pork
BBQ Sauce
Sour cream
Red Onions
Jalapenos/black olives

Yes. So much yes. I try to avoid buying overpriced food/drinks at the park, but this is the one item I get every single time I go to a Cards game.

not ballpark nachos, but qdoba grilled chicken nachos with queso, shredded cheese, pinto beans, sour cream, pico de gallo, and cilantro, is a common lunch for me

closer to ballpark nachos: taco casa...yum!

They're gross.

from personal knowledge, at a young age, thinking i was pretending to be a coke-snorting guy like on a tv show i watched (most likely miami vice), if you snort salt you will have no boogers

This. Sometimes you fully expect to get these kinds of nachos, like at a bowling alley. They're terrible, but you weren't expecting great things, so meh.

But there is nothing worse than being in a restaurant, ordering a plate of nachos for an appetizer, and it comes out with "nacho cheese sauce."

I can get authentic Rico's "cheez" and chips at the grocery.

It's not as good as my homemade nachos. It's also the absolute perfect flavor on an Autumn weekend, when you're watching football. And it doesn't cost $9 a serving like it would at the stadium.

if I'm at the ballpark, I want the generic Ballpark nachos---round tortilla chips, cheese sauce , jalapenos-----at a mexican/tex-mex restaurant I want the fully loaded nachos with real cheese and all the trimmings. Is my brain linking the differnet senses with certain envronments? I don't know. It's like when I'm at home I don't want mcrowave popcorn with a movie---I want the "movie theatre popcorn"

Bad nachos are salted cardboard covered in "Cheez-flavored" rubber, and chili scavenged from a Taco Bell restroom.

Good nachos are proof that the universe is benign and wants us to be happy.

i CAN do that. most of the grocery stores have that huge can of cheese sauce and they all have the tortilla chips. but i'm lazier, and pass by a taco casa daily. their regular nachos for less than $3.50 is a big serving of chips and cheez.

I call those kind of nachos, "crappy nachos." Gigantic soda and "crappy nachos" please. Some say I'm rude for saying "crappy nachos," but the confused look on someones face once in a while, priceless.

Standard Sunday football-watching lunch:

Plate o' chips
Shred colby and jack mixed on top
sprinkle with chopped green onion
sprinkle with browned soy chorizo
Repeat in layers as required
add sliced jalapenos on top

Put in the oven to melt the cheese throughout and then broil at the end to toast the top.

Serve with sour cream and/or guac and hot sauce/salsa of choice.  Choice around the Wraithmare household is Ring of Fire.

Sure it's a bit of work but beats the hell out of liquid cheese.

At Memphis Redbirds games its chips, Rendezvous pulled pork, cheese, BBQ sauce and dry rub.

There's an Irish pub up the road from my office. They make their own potato chips (lots of places in Vegas do), and then load 'em up with all kinds off good stuff....black olives, chicken, cheese, sour cream, etc. They are delicious, and the portion sizes are GINORMOUS.
