The Isle of Man is not ruled by the Westminster parliament. It is a self-governing dependency of the British Crown.

/until a few years ago I believe that the island prohibited homosexuality entirely

HotWingAgenda: Last Man on Earth: GungFu: 12349876: GungFu: Ever hear straight couples constantly tell you how straight they are?

There are plenty of straight people who love to tell you or show off how masculine/feminine they are.

No doubt, but do they have straight bars or are they just called bars? Straight parades or just parades? Like I said, BIG difference.

Ah, now I see where you're coming from.  Can't tell if you're serious, though.  Are you sarcastically invoking the "why is there no White History Month" routine, or are you really that same breed of dipshiat?

If I could play the Devil's advocate:  there has been a movement in the women's equality arena for a long time about how inappropriate to make up special names for women engaged in a profession, as opposed to men.  They believe it's insulting to use "actress" for a female who acts, rather than just calling all thespians "actor" without separating out the women.  I've spoken with people of various minority ethnic backgrounds who were concerned that black people only get a month, segregated out just for them.  What does that imply about the rest of the year?

There is a valid argument that all this constant labeling and segregation only prolongs the hurt and gives the haters something to target.

While no one would ever accuse me of being a feminist, I've always wondered about the actress/waitress thing. Why DO we have different names for men and women's professions? An actor is one who acts, a waiter is one who waits tables. There's nothing masculine about those words so why do we need a special one for women?

And just shoot me if I ever say "comedienne".

Strange, I've been around gay theater people and West Hollywood people, and never met anyone that goes out of their way to mention they are gay.

The only person I know of who does that is a straight guy on a message board who is an attention whore and likes to pretend he's gay/bi to stir up shiat and troll people.

Actual gay people, in real life?  None.

I used to have a buddy (well, still a buddy but now we're only facebook friends) that was the definition of flaaaaaaming.  Showtunes and everything.  He was pretty open about it, but it made sense considering how rough it was for him to go through the stages of straight ladies man, to bi and confused, to gay and suddenly hated by half the population.  I was the first dude he ever got to kiss.

/if I hadn't already known I was straight, that kiss would've turned me straight anyway

If you don't know any annoying gay people then you don't know many gay people, period.  They're conversationally intolerable at about the same rate as straight people, so if you know three there will be at least one in the group that can't go thirty seconds without bringing up his conversationally irrelevant boyfriend (or how much action he's getting if he's unattached), or doing the stupid affected lisp thing that's the gay equivalent of saying bro a lot and turning your ball-cap sideways, or speaking on behalf of all gay people like he's the queen of the orientation that governs all their behaviors.

As with straight people, with the other two of the three you'll have no idea until you've known them a few weeks or actually met their date.

I've known two. One 'used' to be straight, then bi, and then homo. After he went homo, it was a change in character as well, as if he had to show how gay he was - somewhat like newly sealed religious conversions, like they then have to be SuperJew or SuperMuslim etc about it. Anyway, this guy went SuperGay, and did the whole extra mincing and lisping that he never used to do. It was as if the bones in his wrist went to jelly.  I can go on but if I ever said anything negative about anything that was remotely gay, I was seen as a hater. Didn't like George Michael after his crash his car into a photo booth stoned and could have possibly hurt someone else = I don't like him because he's gay. It was getting to be so trying, I actively seeked to avoid him. It was even worse when he got together with his current boyfriend. That guy in South Park? That was him without the assless leather pants or the moustache. Give him the personality of every old age comedic queen on UK tv in the last 30 decades, and that was him. Everything a sexual innuendo in every sentence. It was a nightmare when they talked. It was gay talk all day. That other guy kept on how he planned to retire and write about his sexual exploits all the freakin' time, mentioning ....ok, i'm done, I can't be bothered writing more about them. Tired of them and haven't seen them for a few years now.

No. If he does business with the public then he is obligated to do business with all of the public without discrimination.

Maybe. Maybe not. It's completely irrelevant as they have the same right to choose which services to purchase as anyone else. There are no second-class citizens.
