I like this kid.

2013-05-14 08:08:25 PM
"Filming without permission"??   Really??

I understand if you're in the bathrooms or surreptitiously recording your classmates.  But the cafeteria? Don't you have better things to do, Ms. Teacher NEA Member?

The Europeans did their own version. it's called  Ew, There's Horsemeat in my Swedish Meatballs.

Looks like food to me, what's the problem?  Spoiled brats.

2013-05-14 08:16:53 PM
I would so like to meet this kid, shake his hand, and then slap him as hard as I could upside his fat head.

2013-05-14 08:18:41 PM
I don't have any kids, nor do I intend to, but if for some reason I did have a kid, and that kid pulled of some shiat like this....

I would be the proudest father ever.

They lost me at "Michael Moore". That blew his credibility.

2013-05-14 08:19:41 PM
I brought nearly 99% of my lunches through junior high school, and then in high school I bought nearly all of my lunches.  Fortunately, my high school had a pretty good salad bar and that was pretty much what I ate for 75% of my meals.  The rest was french fries (20%) and pizza (5%).

2013-05-14 08:20:17 PM
I see nothing wrong with that food.

It looks no different than the school food I ate 15 years ago.

2013-05-14 08:20:37 PM
I don't understand that clip showed the kid's plate being loaded with vegetables:

There's very little meat in these gym mats....

Then some family sues when a kid's face in the video is shown in public. The kid filming doesn't have proper release forms, tax payets lose money from court and settlement, and every one yells at the teacher "why didn't you stop this?!"

Yeah. I think I'm a pretty laid back father, but I'm pretty sure that if that one was mine, I'd pimp slap him hard enough that he'd be thankful just to not taste blood anymore.

2013-05-14 08:26:51 PM
Good on him. And I'd be pissed if my kid got in trouble for filming without permission. As long as it isn't creepy or distracting, there shouldn't be any problems with it.

And to think, I was happy with my school lunch if it had tater tots or pizza. How was I to know the school was duping me?

2013-05-14 08:34:42 PM
this one decided to do something about it.

wait, what did he do? He complained about it in a cutesy little film that his daddy helped him with.

bravo.

2013-05-14 08:35:02 PM
What the fark do 4th graders (or even high school kids) know about food?

Hell, when I was in 4th grade I would have eaten pizza and pixie sticks everyday if my parents had let me.

squibbits: They lost me at "Michael Moore". That blew his credibility.

The kid needs slapped. There's just something about little crotch shiats that piss me off.

/food from home does taste better in most cases
//this little shiat shares the same last name as mine
///WHY? WHY? WHY?

But, the poor child had to suffer the indignity of a sub-par salad.

Document the atrocities, kid. You're a hero to us all.

Wasn't there a girl who did this same sort of thing last year?

I knew that Wilson County Schools cafeterias violated the Biological Weapons Convention every time they cooked cabbage.

The food is fine. He's an 11 year old 4th grader.

Two strikes.

FTFA: Despite the school's outrage, Maxwell is receiving praise from others. He has been asked to serve as an adviser to the New York City Department of Education's Office of School Food.

Of course, it's just an advisory role. They'll ignore his suggestions just like they ignored everyone else's.

That's a wiretapping felony right there.  He must be one of them teabagger types trying to pull an O'Keefe to make public schools look bad.

Listen, junior, without those "disgusting" cafeteria lunches you'd starve. So learn to appreciate what society is trying to do for you and STFU. If you don't like it, there's always Somalia.

No taco boat? Those things were awesome! I'd spend an entire period in the bathroom 45 mins after consuming it. Great way to end the day.

2013-05-14 08:54:49 PM
In high school, I spent my lunch money on a joint in the morning, shared the joint with my friend, and ate a nice Filipino lunch at his house everyday. His mother would leave a fresh pot of rice in the rice cooker, a meat dish, and veggies. We would be baked, and eat a great lunch.

I used to hang a coil of smoked deer bologna in my locker with a box of crackers and a brick of cheese,
Told my Jewish pals it was totes kosh.

My elementary school was famous for it's bad food. The reaction from everyone, parents, teachers, public officials, and the students, was "what are ya gonna do?".

/Legitimately surprised no one died from drinking chunky, warm milk.

I don't take the advice of anyone under 35 years of age, anyone younger than that has not had the full brunt of unexpected consequences blowing up in their faces.

TFA: Zachary Maxwell put together the film, with the help of his father, which included meals he ate over a six month period.

What a great father!

That's okay, it was pizza day

2013-05-14 09:04:30 PM
All I used to buy for jr high and high school lunches were milk. Chocolate if I was lucky, but usually just white 2%. Once in a while I'd get something solid, but I'd save my money for more important things like condoms, weed or keggers.

2013-05-14 09:06:15 PM
I'm guessing 98% of the kids ditch the salad anyway. What he should be complaining about is that anemic pizza.

2013-05-14 09:08:41 PM
The food is full of fat and has no nutrition.  The pizza has no vegetables on it and looks like cheese and crust.  I wouldn't want my child eating this.

What I find annoying is that the attached articles used this kid's minor notoriety to take cheap shots at Michael Moore. Bizarre.

Not permitted to take pictures of his meal?  I hope this school never finds out about Instagram.

2013-05-14 09:12:41 PM
Back in my day (early 90s) this kid would have been considered "a fat boy" and have been bullied mercilessly.

2013-05-14 09:13:01 PM
I'd like to see video of all the food on offer, not just shots of what a kid selected.
