/training to be a DEA agent.

2013-05-14 01:19:54 PM
Isolated incident.  Overzealous 4 year old.

2013-05-14 01:20:42 PM
This is definitely going to be the thread where everybody comes to an amiable middle ground on the gun control issue. I feel it in my bones.

/ wait... no... that's just a stray bullet

2013-05-14 01:21:02 PM
Well, they don't work if their not loaded.

2013-05-14 01:21:13 PM
Witnesses said the 4-year-old was outside playing with Brandon on the warm spring evening when he wandered inside his house and came out with the loaded weapon. The gun went off, hitting Brandon, who was in a go-cart about 45 feet away.

/nice shot, man.

I cannot find anything remotely humorous in this terrible event.

/lost a cousin to a hunting accident

What moron leaves a loaded gun where a kid can get to it?

Where does it say the 4 year-old had been drinking?
Did they even breathalyze him??

2013-05-14 01:22:26 PM
Well, it's California and there is a law that says that if you keep firearms unsecured in a house/apt ("dwelling") where there are minors and something bad happens due to the unsecured firearm, the owned is held liable.

2013-05-14 01:22:58 PM
Well, as I've been told in the previous thread, this is just a freak accident and no one is at fault.

Probably because he wasn't shot in the arm.

New Jersey.

2013-05-14 01:23:49 PM
Why could we possibly need to train and license people that possess firearms?  It's nowhere in the Second Amendment.

It's always a freak accident.  The thousands of times kids get shot every year.

2013-05-14 01:24:49 PM
In other news, no one was arrested in this case. Ironically, they were nominated for Parents Magazine family of the year.

Three days before Brandon died, a 4-year-old in Tennessee shot and killed a woman during a cookout.

I'm guessing no charges filed in that case because it was "just a tragic accident" (Real reason: in a red state you aren't allowed to charge irresponsible gun owners when people get shot, it would empower libs)

2013-05-14 01:25:08 PM

James!: What moron leaves a loaded gun where a kid can get to it?

Not just one.  Multiple unsecured weapons and ammo accessible to children were found.

2013-05-14 01:25:16 PM
Why are people against gun control when there are so many stories about people being stupid with their guns?  I honestly don't get it.  People are stupid, guns need to be controlled.

Article starts of on sad note, counters with dumbass, then tosses in an anecdote and follows up with blathering about waiting periods.
WTF?
One idiot with unsecured weapons is not responsible for a tragedy days earlier states away, and a waiting period has nothing to do with it.
This is why news cannot be trusted.
Gimme the who, what, when, where, and why.
Don't try to influence my vote.

germ78: Three loaded weapons in a house full of young children? WTF was that family so afraid of that they needed unsecured loaded firearms around at all times?

Well, they left one gun out, so they had to plan around the kid getting a hold of that one and needing to be taken out. They left the third one out because they fell asleep after masturbating while holding it.

I know this is low hanging fruit, but it's not nice to make fun of special Ed kids.

The other guns in the house, where three children ages 4, 8 and 12 live, included two Harrington & Richardson shotguns and a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, officials said. All were found "unsecured and in close proximity to ammunition and accessible to Senatore's own children," McClain said.

He can have his kids or he can have his guns.  His choice.

2013-05-14 01:30:40 PM
This is another example of an overzealous media trying to chastise American gun ownership.  shiat happens when you own a firearm, but arresting him based on gun ownership is unconstitutional

Because that's just a tragic accident and the parents have suffered enough. Bathtubs aren't evil, you see, and so we need no national campaign to demonize parents whose negligence results in children drowning in bathtubs.

Dangerous minorities? I bet it's dangerous minorities.

i'd be happy for the father if the 6 year old would have killed his son.  Sadly, it is not this way.

The parents of the dead kid should be able to shoot the 4 year old.  It's in the Bible. Study it out.

News can't be trusted because you're so consumed by your personal biases that you intentionally misread things so you have a reason to be outraged at them?

Okay....

Pretty sure it happened in New Jersey.

It's really not that common when you realize there are like ~80 million or more gun owners. Tragic and preventable, yes, but it's not a leading killer or anywhere close to being one. If I'm not mistaken accidental gun deaths were actually trending downward. It just makes the news more readily (and nationally) than other stupid things parents sometimes do, like letting their children drown in swimming pools.

The problem with the responsible gun owner theory......is that we all know the vast majority of people are dumb-asses.

Yea, I take my bathtub to the range to unwind all the time. Not like that damn gun that I only have around because it's a staple of modern life. I swear if I could get rid of that thing it would be out of this house in a heartbeat.

/ I'm thinking of getting a toilet too, maybe a 5 galloner. Looks like a lot of fun but with all these damn control measures flying around the cost of porcelain right now is outrageous

We should probably lock the 4 year old up in jail for the rest of his life as well.  2nd degree murder is an adult charge.
