mike_the_engineer: Can't we just cremate him and spread his ashes across a landfill or something?
vartian: A) Fark these idiots and B) This is one of many, many reasons why I left Virginia as fast as possible.
James!: Now they're afraid of corpses.
Heron: mike_the_engineer: Can't we just cremate him and spread his ashes across a landfill or something? The proscription against defiling the dead goes back to the earliest days of civilization itself. It predates Judaism by (probably) 5000 years, and Christianity by a cool 10k. The Greeks wrote whole epics and plays about how terrible a thing dishonoring the dead is. Achilles, the hero of the Illiad, dies(to the most pathetic person in that story, Paris, no less) as an inevitable retribution to the dishonor he gave Hector's corpse. The Antigone is a story and later play about how shaming the dead is the biggest blasphemy humans can commit -worse than incest considering that the protagonist is a woman born of it- and how those who do such things not only anger the gods but pollute themselves with an amorality so great that no good deed can wipe it clean. If you want to defile and shame the dead that's fine, but remember wanting to do so makes you the moral inferior of pretty much every human being who ever lived.
gryf: Yeah! Let's be as petty as the jihadis!
limeyfellow: James!: Now they're afraid of corpses. They must shiat their pants every time they hear Thriller on the radio.
neversummer: Can't we just cremate him and spread his ashes across a pig farm or something?
ukexpat: When I die you can defile my body any way you want - fark me in the ass with a broomstick, piss on my face, chop me into little bits and put me on the compost heap. I don't and won't give a shiat. This whole veneration of the dead body thing, viewings, elaborate funerals is just a load of bollocks.
maddogdelta: give me doughnuts: Robert E. Lee gets to be buried there because it was his frickin' house.Actually, he's not buried at Arlington. Instead, he's buried at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA[www.mikelynaugh.com image 421x360]
Arthen: Why does this ass get a burial while the homeless end up as plastic bags full of ashes?
give me doughnuts: Robert E. Lee gets to be buried there because it was his frickin' house.
Albert911emt: I'm embarrassed to be living in the same state as these idiots. Freedumb of religion for our everyone, except people we don't like!!!Christians onlyMy specific brand of ChristianityActually, just my ChurchDirect blood relatives who go to the same church as me and sit in the same rowJust me
Lt_Ryan: Let's rip on Virginia meanwhile nothing is said about the 3 other states where cemeteries refused to bury him.
Combustion: vartian: A) Fark these idiots and B) This is one of many, many reasons why I left Virginia as fast as possible.West Virginia left them. West Virginny said "too rednecky." Think about that.
skozlaw: I can appreciate the concerns over desecration and whatnot, but, really, Bodygate has been a pretty retarded spectacle and just goes to show that if there's one thing Americans can really unite on in the face of a tragedy it's derp to the Nth degree.
Joe Blowme: Any problem with anti Neo Nazi task force?
exit_wound: vartian: A) Fark these idiots and B) This is one of many, many reasons why I left Virginia as fast as possible. You seem to forget that it was a person from Virginia and a cemetery in Virginia that made it happen, when for more than a week there were many other states that refused to allow the burial. I am sure that there are groups of persons living in other states that would be complaining as well had he been buried there.
Latinwolf: FTA:Task force chairman James Lafferty said at a news conference Monday that last week's burial of Tamerlan Tsarnaev in a private Muslim cemetery in Caroline County was "an awful sneak attack on the people of Virginia."Lafferty says federal officials should investigate whether any laws were broken. Local and state officials already are doing so.Some real dumb ass officials in that area.
Vodka Zombie: James!: Now they're afraid of corpses. This is real "Home of the brave" patriotism, eh?I can't imagine the level of cowardice needed to take up space in an "anti-Sharia" task force. You've really got to be terrified of just about everything. And, when you're terrified of just about everything, the terrorists have clearly kicked your asses.I hate to say it, but I'm going to join them in laughing at these retards.
Pocket Ninja: Aarontology: If the media hadn't reported on the exact location, you all would have gone about your lives as if nothing had ever happened.Well, for a while, they would have. But the moment those Muslims finish transporting the Masjid al-Haram from Mecca to Doswell and declare Virginia the new Holy Land, things will likely get pretty crazy down there. They just have concerns. They're concerned.
