"Contragate," I remember.

List of -gate scandals.

Billygate is my favorite for pure weirdness, but Fajitagate has the best name.

Wow, that took a lot of imagination.

I thought it was agreed we'd be calling it Taxghazi.

It's the farking Herald.  It's a waste of paper.  I am tempted to click on the link just to read the comments by those loyal readers of the Herald readers.

No, we know it is because they are left wing shills.  Now they are actually reporting on news instead of being apologists.

There is hope.

They should have called it Bengazigate, just to confuse the hell out of everyone.

From the comments:

"Why does oblamer not know anything about all of these situations? He knows nothing about ,Fast and Furious,he knows nothing about Benghazi,he knows nothing about the IRS targeting conservative groups,he knows nothing about the AP phone records. What does he do? I guess just plan for his next date with beyonce and his radical Hollywood friends "

Ohhh I love Herald readers.  They are so cute!

Pants full of macaroni!!: I thought it was agreed we'd be calling it Taxghazi.

This is Obama's Obamaghazi.

I'll bet the Boston Herald sat up all night and burned the midnight oil thinking that one up.

Overzealousstaffergate? Non-issueghazi? Noharmnofoul-contra?

2013-05-14 10:43:48 AM
It's -ghazi now, as in Benghazighazi.

I love the cognitive dissonance here. Obama is simultaneously an evil conniving despot who micromanages the ATF, the IRS, the State Department and security of foreign consulates, and a feckless leader who wastes time golfing and partying with Hollywood and liberal elitists. Thanks, Obama!

Does this mean Romney is automatically president?

Every Republican attempt to push forward on a non-scandal drives them closer and closer to irrelevancy, as they remain detached from the concerns of average Americans.

Nixonian?  Really?  You think Obama met with these IRS workers in the Oval Office and explicitly directed them to go after his political oponents, with no regard for the law or common decency? All the while making racist, paranoid accusations against pretty much everyone?

I think the author needs to go do some basic research.

To be honest, I spent the first four years of GW Bush trying to decide the same thing.  Finally I realized He's an idiot (see his painting interviews), and the 'mastermind' part was Cheney Rumsfeld.  I haven't looked for any puppet master behind Obama.  I guess it's the Lizard People if the guys at work are right, or the New World Order if my father in law is right.

I wasn't aware that the president directly controlled or oversaw the IRS on its day to day operations.

Just who do you think controls the NWO? It certainly isn't the Illuminati. LARPers in fancy robes, they are.

Well, if the Lizard People are running the New World Order, then it's much easier to keep track of.

I don't care how good they cleaned the place, they'll never find all the places I left a deposit.

Obama took a wide stance in the men's room?

Raharu: I wasn't aware that the president directly controlled or oversaw the IRS on its day to day operations.

Sounds like the Tea Party is suggesting that Obama should be given more power and activity in other departments to help avoid stuff like this in the future.

2013-05-14 11:16:25 AM
Well, to be fair, it's the only thing under Obama's watch that has been close to reach "gate" level yet. So I guess the Herald expects this to be his one and only gate.

2013-05-14 11:16:49 AM
If I were going to create a scandal, I would choose something that actually implicates Obama in some sort of wrongdoing.

2013-05-14 11:25:46 AM
If he'd called it nubiante, it would be the closest thing resembling honesty from an Obama critic.

Well, not quite what I'd posted, damn filter, but I like the word nubiante. It's like a cosmetic creme, or a perfume.

Would Near-Gate be more fitting?

2013-05-14 11:30:26 AM
I always wondered if there was a scandal that involved Robert Gates, would it have been called Gatesgate?

2013-05-14 11:38:28 AM

LOL. Well, I guess I find Somerville/Cambridge hipsters to be amusing, so it all works out.

2013-05-14 11:41:41 AM
The Herald is right. It's Obama himself that is the scandal. His very existence is a finger in the eye of polite society. The mere fact that he draws breath represents a threat to the Republic. The next president, should we survive as a nation long enough to elect and inaugurate a successor, may well choose to launch invasions of both Kenya and Hawaii in retaliation and would be thoroughly justified in doing so.

2013-05-14 11:49:06 AM

abb3w: I'm sad "dome" still hasn't caught on as a suffix for naming scandals.

Would that imply that the Blogodome is a scandal?

2013-05-14 11:55:38 AM
Watergate was not a scandal involving water.

2013-05-14 11:59:01 AM
Well, no matter what the Republicans say, it'll just never reach the scandalous level of Watergategate.
