Sounds like when Cops are called to a domestic quarrel and the wife with the black eyes starts crying when the husband is haul off.

The journalists will be making bail for Obama by the end of the day.

The government spying on all of us was OK.  Looks like the AP didn't realize that included them too.

The media was in the tank for the Obama gov.  How could the admin be stupid enough to piss them off like this?  Obama was given a get out of jail free pass by the media, overreached, and now the hammer is going to come down on him.  The media doesn't take kindly to this sort of thing and they have each other's back.  If they actually start scrutinizing this admin and going after them, it could be lights out.  Incredibly stupid move by the Justice Department.

Stupid move by Justice. Good thing for America, if it means the press will do their jobs again. These past couple weeks have shown there's probably more dirt under the rug, so have at it, media.

I don't remember the details but the DOJ says it had to do with the fact that details of a foiled bomb plot back in 2012 leaked to the AP.

Still, this was probably not the best way to handle that.

Funny.  I remember people suggesting that maybe the security state had overreached by just a little bit.  They were met by the very rational and reasonable counter-arguement, "Why...do you hate America so much?".  Maybe the media can sit down with Rob Portman and they can nod sympathetically at each other as they hear stories about how they have been inconvenienced by things they wholeheartedly supported.

This would be a welcome change. The President is disengaged from the daily tasks required of a President - that is keeping tabs on the Cabinet and what is going on.  He seems surprised at all the news reports.

Probably not. But we reap what we sow.

Obama is the chief executive. He's not going to cede this power given to the office just because we feel he should be above it because he's a Democrat. He's still just a politician. We made this bed during Bush, now we have to lie in it with Obama. We should hold Obama's administration accountable, but only insofar as we hold ourselves accountable as well.

And really, Republicans have no ground on which to criticize the administration in this regard. This abuse of power stems largely from their idiotic mismanagement of the executive branch for 8 years.

Everyone is ok with an infringement or two because they always assume those problems will be on someone else's plate. Its always about abusing the other guy. They don't see themselves as the target until its too late.
The AP just got its wakeup call.

While I don't think the entire media is in the bag for Obama, there are individuals who thought they were building up favor with the president by shining his turds.

No, I'm referring to Benghazi.

The AP and IRS thing are legit scandals. But I think the highest ranking official involved in any of those is Holder with the AP thing. I can't see why the Obama Admin would waste time with the IRS on the other one.

No, the GOP trying to make people give a shiat about these manufactured "scandals" is the whole strategy.

No one gives a fark about the DOJ tapping anybody's anything, or the IRS targeting a few anti-tax assholes nobody likes. Americans are not talking about this bullshiat at the dinner table, and conservative efforts to make these into full-fledged "Watergate-lite" scandals is meaningless, since most Americans are more worried about keeping their jobs and their homes and paying for their kid's educations and their medical bills.

As is usual when Republicans start whining about something, nobody farking cares except them and their shrill, ever-shrinking minority.

I'm starting to feel like Holder just needs to go. Even if he was once again oblivious about what was happening under his nose, it's just a sign that he isn't up to the job. We need someone in that position who's able to take a more active interest in the wheelings and dealings going on below him.

The DOJ has an interest in plugging leaks, because it's not only "Stuff that makes the government look bad" that can leak. They should have handled it differently, but it's not WORSETHANWATERGATE!11!1!

And those 'conservative groups' were anti-tax idiots applying  for tax-exempt status. Of COURSE the IRS was gonna look into them. Again, could have been handled better, but not super-scandalous to anyone that isn't a partisan idiot. (Oh, and none of the groups investigated lost their status.).

The fact that Republicans are holding constant hearings for inane shiat, Obamacare repeal votes, anti-abortion bills and the like instead of, y'know, writing helpful budgets or passing jobs bills says more about Republicans than it does about Obama.

As a dirty libby lib lib I can say, with all honesty, that I hope some people lose their job over this and should be prosecuted if it turns out to be illegal.

The Obama administration has embraced this shiat way too much and has generally done a shiatty job of living up to, what some of us thought were very important, campaign promises concerning transparency.

If you're mad about this AP scandal, you have only yourselves to blame for allowing the executive to acquire such power. At this point, it isn't a scandal when the executive branch violates your right to privacy. The real scandal is that we allowed it to happen in the first place, and we've done nothing for the past decade to correct it.

But please, Republicans, make a huge stink out of this. The more you focus on bullshiat scandals, the less you do to damage the economy and make the lives of average Americans worse through legislation.
