The first 3/4 of that certainly pulled me in, but in the end my reaction was more "bad punchline" than "stunned revelation." The setup overwhelms it...it's too much for the payoff and smacks of an undeserved "twist" developed entirely by the writer/director playing coy with the audience. Nicely filmed, though.

I'd agree with that assessment. Hell at least make it about sex, I can't even remember that so-called pivotal point in my life. But still it's nice to live in a world where talented people can make little short story films cheaply and find an audience somewhere. Can't say I'd write it the same way but hey you don't see me out there making any little flicks either.

That was the most god damned stereotypical french thing I have ever seen. To the point of facepalming disbelief.

I thought it was very sweet.

<csb>
I remember my first kiss like it was yesterday. At the 7th grade school dance in the gym. They had the bleachers pulled out along the sides and I was sitting near the top with Kelly. Someone yelled to her that her mom was here and she had to leave. She looked at me and kissed me before I could even think about it, and then she was gone.  I was so stunned, I sat there for a minute, slightly excited, slightly embarrassed. In fact, I was so out of it, I had forgotten that we sat right under one of the basketball nets they had along the side so, when I stood up, I slammed my head into the bottom of the backboard and nearly knocked myself unconscious.  I went home bleeding, and smiling.

Exactly. It was sweet.

Bunch of bitter, jaded, cynical bastards, the rest of you. Just try to imagine life before the internet for a bloody minute.

No, this film is so Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Martín Rosete must have had "Amélie" and "A very long engagement" on repeat  while he made it.
