Seems like a pretty decent service for prostitutes considering it's referrals from your professional colleagues.  I'm sure the sales guys at my firm know all the best hookers at the Dulles Hyatt.

2013-05-14 09:50:57 AM
Wait Wait  Wait  Wait  Wait  Wait  you are telling me I can find prostitutes on LinkedIn?!?!?!?!?!  Let me go dig up my account, I have some "connections" to make!!!

2013-05-14 09:51:01 AM
They're just *networking*, isn't that what the site is all about? Making contacts that help you further your career?

2013-05-14 09:52:03 AM
Does this apply to recent MBAs as well?

2013-05-14 09:52:20 AM
Cool!  I have 2 2nd degree contacts who have been endorsed for prostitution.

2013-05-14 09:54:29 AM
Ohh, better yet, apparently rape is an endorsable skill as well.  There area a couple of folks I should go endorse right now.

They're escorts.  That's legit!

2013-05-14 09:55:43 AM
So, ATM is now a skill you can endorse?

2013-05-14 09:56:56 AM
So it's basically Craigslist for people who wear ties?

2013-05-14 09:58:51 AM
Hey, it's the world's oldest profession.  Deal with it.

2013-05-14 09:59:15 AM
ALL-NUDE

So, not just nude...but all nude?

Where do I sign up?

2013-05-14 10:00:15 AM
But evidently they still allow pimps (aka head hunters) access.

2013-05-14 10:02:43 AM
That's going to be quite awkward when they "endorse" you.

2013-05-14 10:03:33 AM
Hey, they have to make a living too. What do you want? Them to be standing out on the street corners with the politicians?

2013-05-14 10:06:40 AM

Mr. Eugenides: Ohh, better yet, apparently rape is an endorsable skill as well.  There area a couple of folks I should go endorse right now.

So... tempted...

2013-05-14 10:08:00 AM
They should save that crap for Craigslist.

Newsflash: LinkeIn reports record traffic after announcing prostitution problem.

2013-05-14 10:09:45 AM
Okay... I officially am surprised.

I know, I know, I frequent FARK and nothing should surprise me, but somehow, this really did. I also think I'm a bit skeeved out and do not want to put that in the LinkedIn search engine.

/so naive sometimes...

I look at a lot of random LinkedIn profiles. I can't believe I haven't run across one yet.

2013-05-14 10:27:10 AM
I've had a linkedin profile for a while but recently I've been getting emails that someone has rated one of my specific skills.  Maybe linkedin should do the Foobies thing and create a similar site where you can search based on skills and ratings.  The digital equivalent of Dutch red light districts where you can shop for just what you're looking for.

Dear LinkedIn, please stop sending me farking requests. Thanks!

Fark LinkedIn in the ass with 3-4 red-hot pokers, for each and every time some idiot (and now I have strangers doing it) submits my work address to their stupid site.  I've never used it, and will never use it due to their spamming frequency.

2013-05-14 10:29:58 AM
Note that one of the endorsement skills is "pole dancing"...unless they've removed it.

Give to your friends and let the hilarity begin.

At least have the class to be an escort or Zumba instructor.

2013-05-14 10:39:03 AM
The example they show is priceless: a buff dude who offers full nude "prostate massage".  LOL.  "No, I'm not farking you in the ass, I'm 'massaging your prostate' with my erect penis."

I've heard commercials on the radio talking about how members of the military community could call a certain number to talk to "trained sexual assault experts". This must be where the DoD finds such people.

//and cell phone holsters

This comes up from time to time when Linkedin makes a FARK headline.  I have a linkedin profile that I made up after I finished grad school.  I seldom look at it, and when I do ask a question through it, nobody answers for weeks.  It strikes me that if I were to NEED a job, it would be kinda useless.

Is there somewhere that the cool kids are linking up professionally these days, or is it all just done via facebook?

Don't ask me, I apply for all my jobs through Craigslist.

Seems like there's a shortage of nude female models in my area...

Got my current day job via LinkedIn. A couple years prior I'd been laid off and the outplacement lady was big on LinkedIn so I filled out my profile. The manager here was trolling LinkedIn looking for embedded Linux developers and pinged me. Left my Windows Phone contract gig for it, happy so far at 1.5 years...

We get a lot of leads and contacts through LinkedIn.  You're young and useless, and so are your friends, so it'll take you a while to build up some experience before you actually find it worthwhile.

I don't update my profile, since it results in job offers for me.

I've been on LinkedIn for a while and I haven't come across any of them.

The internet to LinkedIn:  If you don't want to be used for getting strange or hookers, please disable your social networking functions.

Honestly when LinkedIn started it had a decent premise - but now it's trying to be Facebook and Match.com mixed together.

Until today, I had no interest in signing up on LikedIn.

2013-05-14 11:42:55 AM
Well, why shouldn't prostitutes have a Linkedin profile? Isn't networking and connections the whole point? Think about how many new people you can network with through now. "Wow that company's CEO and I use the same hooker! Maybe I'll invite him to golf."

2013-05-14 11:57:37 AM
Nice to know that a few professionals are getting some use out of LinkIn. I've found it to be totally useless in my field.

Aside from it becoming too much like FB, I don't like the fact that it tells you/others who has viewed your/their profile.  I had to set-up a bogus account to use for company research.

I guess "Independent Entertainment Professionals" need a sales outlet for their products and services.  But I don't think any divorce attorneys will be fooled.

Dear Mr. Business/Computer Professional,

Use private browsing.

Settings > Profile > Select what others see when you've viewed their profile

"On a site where every action you take is tied to your professional identity, would anyone really take the risk of advertising adult services?"

Perhaps because escorts (and indeed the more common prostitute) aren't ashamed of their profession and are using the site for it's explicitly stated purpose?   It is supposed to be for prospective employees to check out the people they are looking to hire; how long you're hiring them for is irrelevant.

And some escorts charge enough to make a IT consultant's eyes bleed.

stuffy: Or it could be just trying to get a bunch of nosy DAs off there case.

I think this is probably the case.  Any website that allows sex workers to post on it, tends to get the banhammer from the DAs pretty quickly.  Craigslist has had to jump through a number of hoops so they don't get shut down.
