frostus: rustypouch: It's almost as if they live in a free country.

And the neighbors should feel free to retaliate as they see fit.

Ding, Ding, Ding ....and we have a winner!

Seig Heil, Der Grammarnazien.

'Tis OK, the mod fixed it.  My comment will now be nonsensical to all who visit this thread forthwith.

Personally, I was hoping to see you goosestepping through the thread, brutally beating people with your grammar jackboots and shiny, leather-bound copy of the 6th Edition APA Style Manual.

I'm not a very good grammar nazi.  I can only pounce on mistakes that are easy.  To be honest, I made that comment before this thread was greenlit because the mistake was pretty glaring.

I do gooder next times.

"The neighbors have long complained about the noise, the lights and the crush of hundreds of visitors who litter the streets and park in their driveways each night for more than a month."

There should be a holocaust for anyone who thinks it's ok to park in someone's driveway.

If I was a neighbor, I'd be charging 5$ a car to park in my driveway. Get 15-20 cars a night and I would be all for the lights.

The neighbors should band together and hire a tow company. Anyone parks in their driveways, have them towed...

I liked the idea of renting a massive Uhaul too... whoever mentioned that. I'm too lazy tonight to look up the thread to quote you.

Ok that's an even better idea than the tow company, unless they give you kickbacks on the drop fee/impound fee. Folks that live near concert venues or the stock show complex, even near Mile High I've seem them, charging 20-50 to park on their property.

hardinparamedic: FrancoFile: Call 911 for a health issue.  When the ambulance can't get in to the cul-de-sac, have the neighbors cited for obstructing traffic.

Please tell me you're being comical.

Unless you have an ACTUAL emergency, please don't do this. Not only is it a crime to call an ambulance for a false issue, it also takes a unit out of service for at least an hour or more - which means that if someone REALLY needs that unit for help, it's going to take help longer to get there, and can potentially result in them being seriously disabled or dying as a result.

Yes, I am.  I would not suggest phoning in a fake call to 911.

Good idea, but holocaust for those who still park without paying

astouffer: How about a giant Ramadan display along with billboard size quotes for the Quran?

I'm pretty sure that won't work. Every Hanukkah (December) my mother pulls out her chanukkiah and lights the candles in turn...and every December the neighborhood carolers come around to sing Christmas carols to her. They don't care...they just show up for the hot buttered rum toddies she brews up for them.

Or spike strips at the end of your driveway. Let the dimwits who came to gawk at the lights call the tow trucks to bring them home.

Only in the US are you allowed to impose you x-mas Naziness to makes others unhappy.

Well if they want to kill it just get a DMCA on the Video shown, im sure they have no rights for public
displays , and find some frog that cant take the lights and need the sleep so the EPA get involved.

If my Neighbours this this I just put poison candy out a few times, find faulty power cables and call the police,
Or better Sell ticket at the end of the street,

TV's Vinnie: "The neighbors have long complained about the noise, the lights and the crush of hundreds of visitors who litter the streets and park in their driveways each night for more than a month. "

At first I had the neighbors pegged as a bunch of Grinches, but they actually have a valid point. Strangers parking in people's driveways and littering up their yards is real douchebag behavior, and until Mr. & Mrs. Holly-Jolly can get this nuthouse under control, then there needs to be some restrictions.

Can't the neighbors call a tow truck and have the offending cars forcibly removed from their driveways?

...a 20-foot inflatable movie screen that loops Disney movies.

Maybe the neighbors should just tell Disney.

When I was in college, many folks who lived within a couple block radius of the school's football stadium would let game-goers park in their driveways and yards for $10/each.  The homeowners would sit on the front porch drinking cold beer and watching the game on the television.

A win-win situation, if you ask me.

Tymast: goofy ass christians  violating what the bible tells them to do,  i say we do what the bible says to do *gets stones*

In the Bible Jesus teaches against stoning people. in fact he tells the Pharisees "let he who is without Sin cast the first stone".

You may be referring to the Torah or the Quran, but that would be silly considering Christmas is, you know, a Christian holiday.

Which part of "Christmas" is Christian?  The gift-giving?  The tree?  The carols?

I think that it would be funnier to put a boot on the car and then refuse to answer the door.

Then you get to do a legitimate call to 911: "There's a strange guy pounding on my front door. He's holding a tire iron and yelling obscenities and threats at me. Please hurry."

/maybe set up a hidden camera and post the video to youtube too

I'd go with a combination of spike strips, $10 parking in my driveway/front yard while I sit there and drink beer, and sic the Disney Lawyers on them for good measure. And after-hours long range C02 .177 light-bulb sniping, too.

Didn't read the thread but if they want to shut the Xtreme Xmas asshats, just get an electrical code inspection done every few weeks.  After 3 weeks, Extension cords are considered below code (they are a temporary power source, not permanent) and permanently wiring in everything will cost a fortune.  Plus, they will ensure all cords are of proper voltage.  They'll last a month or less.

Well, actually...

If I remember my middle school German language classes correctly, conjugating verbs is srs bzns. Ich/du/er/sie/es/Sie all have different spellings and pronounciations depending on whether the invective they are being used with is feminine, masculine, or neuter/neutral.

Thus, the usage for Herr would be slightly different than for Frau. e vs er vs est/et, or some such. Ich liebe, du leibt, er/sie/es liebst.

Or something.

fark'd if I can remember it correctly.

How about the more annoying "It's a Dubstep X-Mas"?

Complete with a flashing light show that might set off epileptic seizures. Nothing too bright, just cycling at an insane rate.

Yeah, I think his perception of reality might be a bit askew.

And we still have a house on our block with lights up.  We all have small-medium houses, single story, < 1,800 sqft, and I saw the home owner out mowing his yard yesterday.  It literally takes 10 minutes to take the lights off the house.  No idea why they are still up.

WW2 surplus General Electric 60-inch parabolic reflector coast artillery searchlights are rated at 800 million candlepower. The direct beam model will cast a one-degree beam of light ten miles on a clear night.

These are still rentable in many major metro areas.

"What? I'm just joining Team Hyatt. It's the Star of Bethlehem. Trained on your bedroom window."

I honestly don't understand the appeal of displays like that. I enjoy seeing people's lights, but only if they're at least mostly tasteful. Heck mine a bit of a hodgepodge but at least they're not over the top; we just put them on the porch and in a couple of windows.

Spoken like a true Yard-Nazi. Yes, you could just HOA them out of the neighborhood. Of course, the harassment suit they file against the HOA will require a special assessment from everyone else to cover the attorney's fees.

It takes significantly longer than that when you have 20,000 lights up.

I take mine down on the first warm day of January. Sometimes that first warm day doesn't arrive until March.
