It would be fitting if she stayed around until 2020.

Prior to this announcement, I didn't realize there was such hate for Barbara Walters.  Sure, she was easy to make fun off because of the way she speaks, but people really seem to have an axe to grind about her ruining journalism.

And for good reason: 'If you were a tree what kind of tree would you be?'

She's been a light-weight since she first started on the Today who almost sixty (!!!) years ago.

I wouldn't say she's "ruined" journalism, there's been a lot of other things more significant to its demise than her. It's just that interviewing celebrities does not equal "journalism".

This woman interviewed heads of state, criminals, terrorists, celebrities in trouble and all sorts of people from all walks of life with inspirational, tragic, and newsworthy stories. But she never missed a beat, lost her composure, or did a double take.

Until Herman Cain told her he wanted to be Secretary of Defense.
That's what broke her.

She wasn't too thrilled with Sean Connery either

I didn't know sleeping your way to the top made you a journalist. I thought you had to go to school for stuff like that.

/Before you hate me, she admitted as much in her biography

To be fair, Kate was the one who brought up trees:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_X2Xd1iOmM

Lately the camera has been shooting her through a gauze pad, I think.

Why isn't 'TV Journalism' on this list?
