(Shock Point)   Michelle Bachmann makes dramatic turn around and now will do whatever it takes to legalize gay marriage in Minnesota, as she promises to leave the state forever if it's legalized. Wait, she's against it? She might want to rethink her strategy   (dailycurrant.com) divider line 82

Speaker2Animals: 4tehsnowflakes: I'd hit it, heck, she'd be calling out for Jeebus and speaking in tongues.  The pillow talk could be disastrous though.  For a legislator, she seems less than fully knowledgeable about how the law is supposed to work.

As long as she had sunglasses on. Those crazy eyes are an immediate boner killer.

Someone please make a "Deal With It" anigif of Michele for this thread.

From Philly to Boston: I still try and understand why Timothy's instructions and the whole shellfish are an abomination thing gets thrown out and the gay thing sticks.

If we're talking about Christians then it is because of Paul, he says that gentiles do not need to care about the food laws or circumcision, but he also spoke against homosexuality.

<i>"The Bible is very clear on this issue," she told KSTP-TV this morning, "Homosexuality is a sin, and God will punish communities that support it. </i>

Meechy, I think you're a bit confused.  The bible is also very clear on killin, taking the Lord's name in vain, farkin your neighbors wife, and a slew of other things Minnesota allows.

But God's gonna crack down on teh gays?  He's kinda turning into a big ole pansy-assed pussy on that one, aint he?  I wonder what that says about your god?

/seriously, the guy wouldn't even put his peener in Mary!

I'm sorry, but we call those harpies 'fruit flys' where I come from.

Okay, satire, blah blah blah. But shouldn't satire be making some clever point, or at the very least exaggerate reality to an extreme degree? This isn't satire. This is entirely too believable.

Just.... Don't come to my state, please. We already have Ehrlich levels of wharrgarbl.

Arkanaut: Cyberluddite: When offering satire or parody relating to a complete loon like Michelle Bachmann, you really need to be over the top.  This isn't over the top enough--it sounds like something she would really say. Which makes it not very funny.

I don't think the folks at the Daily Currant are going for "funny" -- I think they're deliberately trying to confuse us with realistic, but just slightly outrageous stories.

I don't even think this is outrageous. I'm sure she's said as much in private. At some point, this is just lying.

Congrats to Minnesota for joining the correct side of history!

The rest of you: get your shiat together!

The Currant like it when other's mistake them for real news and so they walk the edge.

Trouble with MB is that she is beyond parody, beyond satire, she's a walking, talking, living, breathing caricature of a RW God-botherer who long ago drifted past the boundaries of Poe's Law.

Ezekiel 16:49-50 "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy."

If the Bible were true, America would have been wiped out long ago.

FirstNationalBastard: You know, Michelle Bachmann might be the one person whose marriage might actually be broken up if gays could legally wed their gay lovers.

She married a gay man, why can't others do the same?

Its always a good strategy to threaten to quit when the majority of your voters don't agree with you on an issue.

I can see why one would believe the daily current, the line between satire and Bachman is a fine one.

Probably the same one who told her vaccines cause mental retardation.

"I don't know what it will be, Bruce," she said, "it could be an earthquake. It could be a volcano. It could be some sort of flesh eating virus. All I know is that God does not let homosexuality go unpunished, and Minneapolis is next in line for his wrath.

If there's a queue for receiving the wrath, why doesn't she just wait until Massachusettes or Connecticut burn to the ground before hightailing it to Mississippi?

I have to admit, when I got the end though, the part about her considering Oregon as a destination, part of me went "huh?"... sadly, I had posted twice by then.

"Inhospitable to guests?" Not sure if serious.  Genesis 18 makes it pretty clear that the men (well, two of them -- the angels) were going to bust a cap on Sodom and Gomorrah long before they set foot in the city and destroyed it (in Genesis 19)

FTA:  Although none of the other states has suffered from Biblical-like destruction, Minnesota's most outspoken voice in Congress told anchor Bruce Nolan that it's only a matter of time.

When did Bruce Almighty move to Minnesota from Buffalo to take an anchor job?  I didn't see that in the movie, and wouldn't Bruce know if it was okay with God or not?
