Damn vuvuzelas.

Knew he wouldn't make it, tried not to be skin-to-skin with a yellow man....

I think he was trying to take out the 2nd baseman, which is a common practice (at least in US baseball).

They weren't able to complete the double play so I guess it served its purpose, whatever it was.

Still a better slide than Prince Fielder's.

Came for the Willy Mays Hayes slide, found it in TFA. Today was a good day.

Can't find the MXC clip where the guy did a full headplant into the mud, seemed kinda appropriate.

Running is hard... something, something fat. Slow.

Out by an eyelash!

And from one angle it look like he was going to be safe if he had slid properly. Must be all that estrogen farking up his judgement.

If so, he didn't do a much better job locating the second baseman than he did locating the bag.  The throw was way off.  He could have been safe on an error if he had just slid adequately.

Welp, he stopped the double play.  He probably would have been safe if he just ran hard, but this is Manny.  You get what you pay for

My first reaction was, Manny is still in the league?  Where?  Then I RTFA.

Was he sliding or did his fat a$$ just fall down from running that far?

He made 200 million in MLB. Maybe 125 mil after taxes, I don't know. If he's broke then that's Antoine Walker retarded. But then again, it's Manny. Didn't he sell his grill on Ebay in his prime?

Did you even have to use your AK?

He anticipated the double play and slid to where he thought the second baseman would be after he tagged the bag to try to break up the double play. The only problem was the second baseman got a horrible throw . I don't see this as him being a dumbass, it was him anticipating a play and making the proper baseball move.

That really didn't seem like a bad slide in the least.  I was expecting a lot worse from that video.

Apparently, he was supposed to anticipate the throwing error.

If there's any justification for what he did, I think it's the opposite of what you say.  Perhaps it's because he sees the throwing error, still doesn't think he can make it, and so he stops short to force the second baseman to run either to him or to the base to make a tag.  OK, snap decision, justifiable even though in retrospect it looks clear he could have made it.  But if he doesn't see or anticipate the throwing error (which is pretty bad considering he can see the second baseman running after the ball), sliding five feet short of the bag where the second baseman is standing will do absolutely nothing to break up the DP.

No kidding.
First rule of breaking up double plays = go in high.
