spentmiles: When I was in elementary school, the teacher gave us a writing prompt: What would you do if you could be invisible for a day?At the time, my elderly grandfather was living with us. He had a small fortune but after my grandmother died, he said he was lonely and wanted to live with us. I overheard my mom and dad fighting about it. The gist that I got was that grandfather was wealthy and we'd get more money after he died if he lived with us. He was nice to me, giving me drinks of his beer, cigarettes, and money whenever I asked. Him and my dad didn't get along whatsoever, though, so dad started traveling more with work after he moved in with us.As dad traveled more, I started hearing really weird noises coming from grandpa's room at night. The first time, I got scared and ran to my mom's room, but she wasn't in her bed. I couldn't find her anywhere in the house, so I just hid under the covers. I fell asleep and in the morning mom was downstairs cooking breakfast. I asked her about the noises, but she said she hadn't heard anything. When I asked where she was, she got mad and told me to stay in my room at night.The noises continued to get worse. There was laughter and moaning and sometimes screaming, like people were fighting in their sleep. I was peeking out of my door one night when I saw mom leave grandpa's bedroom. She was completely naked. I came out and asked her what was going on. She said that she was sleepwalking and I shouldn't tell anyone because she was so embarrassed. I told her that we'd keep it our secret.I was still curious as to what was going on in there. So, I wrote my assignment about being invisible and sneaking into my grandfather's room while my mom was in there with him at night. After the teacher read it, she called my dad. My parents got divorced after that and my dad ended up moving to Florida.
