Honestly, as much of a Star Wars fan as I am...I really cannot muster up the excitement about this movie right now.  I just do not care.  Considering how bad...I mean...really bad 1,2, and 3 were...then the "remastering" and adding of shiat to 4,5, and 6...

I am just anticipating "silly" annoying characters that do not add to the movie, horrible acting and stupid plot lines...

We'll see, and perhaps once the trailer is put together my opinion will change, but for now, I remain skeptical that this will actually be a good movie.

Thank Christ. Ever since the films were announced I was on the edge of my seat wondering, "What will  Endive Wombat's take on it be?".

Snarky'ness aside, if JJ Abrams uses the same writers he uses for everything else, namely Bob Orci and that other guy, I'm not all that optimistic about the script either. But John Williams is back for the score, that's good. But maybe he should break with tradition and record the score as soon as possible, instead of waiting for the final cut of the film if you take my meaning. And I would shoot the scenes with Harrison Ford first.

There's a hole in the world like a great black pit

and its morals aren't worth what a pig can spit
and it goes by the name of London...

I have no major beef with #3 except for the 'NOOOOOOOOO' scene, that was stupid. The first 2, well, lets just say there are only 4 star wars DVDs on my shelf.

So we're looking at what for a story line.... Ewoks with bad teeth?

Just great.

Seeing as how the majority of this movie will be in front of a green screen could they not have chosen an abandoned air hangar and save money?

Too early to get excited.  Check back with me when we have an idea of a script and characters.

Yeah man, lets shiat all over this when not a single frame of the next movie has been filmed yet!

Lets not even acknowledge the fact that it will be a different director...

I could also end up in the doghouse for a long time again after dragging her to the prequels...

Is there any chance that we can get everyone to agree NOT to see this streaming pile of garbage and thus give this once great set of (3) films the respectful end it deserves? Please?! Before that farking hack Lucas turn it into the Power Rangers to sell more toys?

I have much higher hopes than was the case for 1, 2, & 3. I mean, they couldn't be worse unless they brought in Uwe Boll to do them.

What's left to tell?  At the end of Ep. VI the main cast is still alive while the Empire has lost its entire leadership, the Death Star and their flagship.  There's some cleanup work to do but the fallout's pretty predictable.  They can pull the ol' "ANOTHER CHALLENGER APPEARS" card but that almost never works and they won't care enough to try to make the story truly great.

It could be dumb fun, but that's Red Box material.

I can dismiss the prequels from relevance because Lucas is now gone, but I think the bigger issue that you stopped short of putting your finger on is that the films have lacked creative spark since The Empire Strikes Back.  Now that they've made it very clear this is going to be an industrial cash cow operation, I suppose I'm willing to watch for the right price but I certainly won't care either way.

Not to mention the horrible accents?... is anyone tired of the british accent invasion lately?  it seems to be a prerequisite for new anchors and actors lately.... boring and annoying.

Looking at the current body of Star Wars works

4 was a masterpiece in STORY TELLING, yes the effects were good but the plot and action were good.

5 was OK but was the beginning of the issues, adding characters to appease the masses, adding characters to sell shiat, and not a completely coherent story

6 was somewhat on track but still suffered heavily with the Ewoks and their marketability.  The decisions seemed to be more what can we put in the movies to sell crap not what makes sense.

Now all along Lucas had said (after the success of 4 (though 1 at the time)) that the plan was for 9 movies.

Fast forward to 2009 and we rollout the next 3 movies.  Here they spend more time and effort on the effects, the tie ins, the video games, the crap, than the actual movie plot.  The incredibly long pod race, the underused and not understood Darth Maul, and many things was the start of the trainwreck the Star Wars franchise became

1 was passable but boring

2 was forgettable at best

3 was OK and did have some good sequences but was very hemmed in as they had to tie it back to the first 3.

Hopefully they will remember
- Story and Plot first
- everything else is secondary

I'm surprised it isn't filmed in a couple of computers in Pasadena.

Insert digitized Luke
Insert digitized Darth Vader
Insert background Spaceship

Vader: Luke, you saved my life and released me from that curse when you burned my mechanical body.
Luke: Yeah. I was there and that guy who showed up with Yoda and Obi was another Jedi who dialed the wrong number. Father, we must hurry. The ewoks have fallen under an evil curse and captured Princess Leia. We must save her for her princess heart power is the strongest force in the lands.
Vader: What about your son, Cartman Skywalker?
Luke: He's in Advanced Jedi School. He'll be able to join us on Endor's moon.

While the rest of the world suffers under austerity measures and tax increases, I am so relieved that the cash-strapped Star Wars franchise will be getting the tax break it so richly deserves.

it was touch and go for a while.

now, I didn't actually drag her to phantom menace. that was prior to us getting together... so that probably savaged it a bit.

a bad Star wars 7 would probably be the end, though. she's definitely on the star trek side of the holy war, you see.

"Speaking at a meeting of the G7 group of industrialised nations, the chancellor - who revealed his favourite Star Wars character is Han Solo - said he was "absolutely delighted" that the film was coming back to the Britain. "

"the" Britain?

Is that what they call it now? Or have they been vioctimized by the same illness that affects people around Los Angeles that causes them to drop spurious and unnecessary "the"s in front of things, like freeway numbers?

2013-05-13 12:43:18 PM
So, the Emperor is dead.  Vader is dead.  The good guys won, so let's make a cash grab sack of shiat and nobody will notice kind of plot?

smh
