FTFA: "The due date falls during the middle of the four-day Coronation Festival to mark the 60 year anniversary of the Queen's crowning. The event begins July 11, ending July 14. "

Four-day festival? For being the world's luckiest fark trophy of the generation?

And people say the Gen-Xers and Millennials are narcissists.

So very true. The doctors told my mom I was due on June 21st, I was born on July 22nd. I think she's still a little bitter about that 10 month thing. The thing being me and she's told me that she didn't think I was ever going to get out of her body.

I'm surprised that they let the pregnancy go that long.  The information that I got in baby class was you get about 2 weeks past the due date and then they sharpen their scalpels.  After that babies will actually start to shrink and can have serious problems.

Unless they've scheduled for a surgeon to cut it out of her, due dates can vary by weeks in either direction. I was born two weeks early.

I only know about this from what my mom has told me, I was pretty young at the time. I was a pretty small baby, it's not like I was becoming a toddler in there. The docs figured I needed more time so they let it go. Also this was 1969 so while they could, and did induce labor it wasn't quite as common then as it is now. It seems they made the right call. I was born healthy and the delivery was trouble-free. However I have also been a pretty small human (5'6" 130 lbs as an adult) all my life so who knows. Maybe I did shrink in that last month???

The most likely explanation is actually that the doctors miscalculated how far along you were when they originally estimated the due date, not that you were actually carried for 10 months. It happens, less so today but at the time was quite common. I was born nearly a month premature when they induced when my mom was just having Braxton's Hicks and part of it was due to miscalculating my due date.

THIS!!!

As LIncoln said, "It is altogether fitting and proper" that the child of an intelligent, beautiful and graceful woman gets ALL the magazine covers rather than the crotch-dropping of a vapid, gross, greedy AW.  I really hope Kim K's embarrassing pregnancy will not yield the payoff she planned.

Wow, were you born with any complications? That's a hell of a long time overdue. I was set to be induced the day after I went into natural labour. My guy had meconium aspiration and was hospitalized for 29 days. I was born at 28 weeks and was in the hospital for two months. No easy births in my family, I guess.

Yup, they used to rely on the woman remembering when her last cycle was to calculate due dates and such, which can be inaccurate for many reasons. Now they ask as a guideline, but then give you an ultrasound. Ultrasounds before 12 weeks are the most accurate way to date a pregnancy.

Thanks for linking this subby. I'm also due in July and have been curious for awhile when she was having hers.

Hold out for the 22nd. More babies need to share my birthday :D Or you could go for the 9th to match my wife's b'day. In any case I hope you and baby get through it healthy and happy. (Don't have kids so have to live vicariously, fortunately lots of nieces and nephews)

We've got the 4th and 13th already in my family/extended family, and I have friends with the 11th and 26th. So our odds are already good of hitting a shared birthday. I'm actually due on our anniversary, so I'd be happy with any day EXCEPT my due date.

Nieces and nephews are so much better than actually having kids. Enjoy it! :D
