Hopefully we'll get a ref that isn't in the tank for the Rangers.  Yesterday was an embarrassment.

Well, they tend to be too cute out there. I know one goal was after their pick play went south and Toronto drove in with the puck.

Publikwerks: keylock71: Well, once again the Bruins failed to close out a series...

Not optimistic at this point. I hope the Bruins at least show up to play tonight for the full 60 minutes, because last night was pitiful.

Guess we'll see soon enough.

I wouldn't say pitiful. It wasn't great hockey, but Reimer was pretty damn solid, and the Leaf's d keep the Bs from getting ANY rebounds, which is Reimer's weakness. I think that is the B's problem - Reimer gives up loads of re bounds, but by playing this pass-pass-pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass-  pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- shoot game in Toronto's zone, they aren't going to get the rebound shots that will get past Reimer.

//my 2 cents.

Yep, Leafs did a great job keeping the Bruins to the perimeters... But the lack of sustained offensive presence was more about the Bruins losing those one on one battles along the boards and in the corners, in my opinion.

Fair enough. Hopefully a good night's sleep without having to worry about travel until the morning will help.

Dear Bruins, you suck.

I mean not really because you can't close a series, but more because you are delaying the rest of us from having more hockey. Finish this shiat up so we can start the second round already, aight?

And on that note, and I'm going to feel dirty for saying this, thank you to Detroit for realizing it's Duck season. We'll see you in Chicago where on we will promptly kick your ass.

soon.......

That Patton quote would mean a whole lot more if the Bruins would just do one other thing that happens a LOT during wartime - people SHOOT (the damn puck) .

Enjoy the off season Ducks, you certainly deserve to be there now.  The hard edge that let you demolish the Western Conf. during the season was pretty much missing once the playoffs started & it showed in that you couldn't get things done enough in regulation.  What should have been a relatively easy series ended up with you sitting in the showers wondering what happened.  Hopefully your poor showing pisses Teemu off enough that he wants to come back for another shot at The Cup rather than making him so disgusted that he hangs the armor & blades up for good.  Massive congrats to Detroit, you shouldn't have done it but you did.  You probably won't make it past Chicago but as you really shouldn't be there to begin with, you've got nothing to be ashamed of.  Next year will just be that much better as the injuries heal & the young guns get more experience (the retirements that hurt this year probably won't change though....).

TWO game sevens tonight - awesome hockey in store for us (one would hope anyway....)

It really comes down to what Brick harps on all the time... Get your skating game going, which leads to the physical game, which leads to turnovers and offensive opportunities.

The last two games have seen far too many Bruins not moving their legs, dumping in without purpose, and turning over the puck in the neutral zone... They also need to win the battles along the boards.

As a Leafs fan, it's a certain game 6 in the early 90s that haunts me more than any game 7.

I think turning it over in the neutral zone was the worst. Toronto is fast, and will drive to the net.

I dunno, I felt much worse about it last night, but I think the Bruins can fight Toronto off.

I think so, too... But Toronto has the momentum going into tonight's game. They've earned it. They took it to the Bruins the last two games and the Bruins haven't been able to match them.

However, Bruins need to come out tonight aggressive and physical and take the game to the Leafs' early. They also need to score first and put some doubt in the minds of the Leafs.

Going to be a long day waiting for this game...

Yes.  20 years ago.  The infamous Gretzky/Gilmour incident.   I remember it.  Still, I found a time not too long after to "let it go".

I can see playing as many games as possible to jack up Jacobs' gate receipts, but sheesh.

I don't really take sports very seriously at all; I just find it fun to pretend I do.  Having rooted for the Leafs since I was a kid, I think if I actually took their near-constant craptacularity to heart I'd have killed myself long ago.

I hear that. Hell, Boston fans pre-2001 were in the same boat. The past decade has been quite good to us.

What are the odds we see the Jagr park his big tush in front of the net to work screens, tip pucks, and collect all the garbage rebounds Reimer gives up to actually score a goal? He's comparable in height and has a weight advantage over Toronto's d-men and he's shown that he's pretty damn hard to move when he doesn't want to.

I didn't see anyone else remark on it in the thread, but it seemed to me like Reimer was a lot better about rebounds last night than in previous games.  Or maybe I just went crazy again, it's hard to tell sometimes.

He was better, but there were still a bunch of pucks that bounced off his glove or chest with no one in front of the net to try to collect them.

Almighty and most merciful Father,
we humbly beseech Thee,
of Thy great goodness,
to restrain these immoderate saves with which we have had to contend.
Grant us fair goaltending for Battle.
Graciously hearken to the Bruins who call upon Thee that,
armed with Thy power,
they may advance from quaterfinals to finals,
and crush the oppression and wickedness
of our enemies and return the cup in Boston
