Mid_mo_mad_man: Yes I know some of us are a little odd but a " brony" is the scum of the earth. He's turn red blooded males in sissy boys. What "brony" knows about chopping firewood or big game hunting or satisfying a woman? Bronies take over and skills are lost forever.

There are some bronies who already had all the man skills you'd ever want. Men who could rebuild a small-block engine, rewire a house, keep a wife happy and even carry her, pregnant, into the hospital because the orderlies were not moving fast enough. These men were tough, smart, capable and just the sort of men you'd trust to raise a son to be a man's man, even in these pussified modern times.

And then the baby turned out to be a girl.

So when she got to be four and a half years old, the shows she liked to watch best with her Daddy every weekend were 'Top Gear,' a show she pronounced as 'Myffbusters,' and 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.'

So this manliest of men, whose only dealings with horses had been helping at the ranch with his parents' Peruvians occasionally and gamely humoring his wife's fondness for old carousels, suddenly got to see this Flash-animated, bug-eyed show about ponies and friendship. He was too much of a gentleman to object, because his little girl loved it so, and in awhile, it started to grow on him.

This is not a man who dabbles or enjoys media casually. He is too much of a man for that. If the television is on at all, it is for a man's program that educates as it entertains, is a sporting event, or both. When he and his daughter got into 'Top Gear,' they also got into modifying her little R/C cars to make them better and faster. After every 'Myffbusters' they'd do a small science 'asper'ment' in the kitchen or garage. So when he watches ponies, he becomes a Brony and he and his little girl enjoy that to the hilt, coloring in pictures, speculating on the background ponies, modifying a household fan so it looks like Rainbow Dash making a Sonic Rainboom and once, because daughter was very good, attending a brony convention and getting Lauren Faust's autograph.

His daughter can detail cars, once changed a tire all by herself with supervision and requested a socket set and a Rainbow Dash costume for her fifth birthday. This man's man stayed up late helping his wife to stitch some rainbow faux-fur down the back of a blue hoodie and personally sewed the cutie mark patch to the front pocket with the same skills he learned as a Cub Scout so that she could have exactly what she wanted. This reminded him of those times, so he dug out his old Cub Scout knife to give to his little girl. It came in handy on the family camping trip, where she followed the instructions in a book and made a fire drill to furnish the fire over which all three cooked the dinner of fresh-caught trout. She spoke lovingly of this occasion at Brownies a year or two later and there is no human being so perfect in her eyes as her Dad, though her mom, uncle and Aunt Spidey (me,) are also okay.

You don't seem to have met the sort of bronies I know. The only ones I've met outside of conventions are dads, older brothers and godfathers to whom 'being a good man and a role model,' is more important than 'having a reputation for manliness.'

The Call of Cthulhu by Dr. Seuss

This has to be one of the most BRILLIANT things I've ever seen.  Absolutely perfect adaptation of the Lovecraft tale in the good Dr.'s style.
