Oh sure.  Now you change the headline.

So, if I'm understanding this right, a Swedish comedian wants to use an international song competition to tell of a bunch of the participating countries that they're assholes. Sure, that sounds like an awesome idea.

I can't believe they printed that. I'm not easily offended, but that crosses the line.

All the brilliant comedians (George Carlin, Lenny Bruce,Martin  Mull, Buddy Hackett) learned that the best material comes from blurring the boundaries of tastefulness

FTF sketch: Suddenly the COMMANDER is shot dead by enemy fire... we see a CLOSE UP of a grave stone, that could be the commander in the last scene.

Oh, c'mon! How that could that not be funny?

It's actually a bit of a catchphrase in Swedish. If there were a Fårk.com, it would be a headline meme.

The bit about football fans calling the ref a homophobe was almost funny.  The only way I could tell "that was the joke" was because of a scene change on most of them.

Yep.  And I don't think I've ever agreed with Bjorn before.  Not publicly anyway.

I loved the way the writer told you what the joke was going to be, then showed you the joke, to make sure that nobody missed it. Very egalitarian.

The last time I watched the Eurovision contest, I was a student in the International Erasmus exchange program in Leeds. 12 of the participating nations were represented in my dormitory, and we all went to see it at the student union. This was a glorious night, full of good-natured ribbing and cheap beer.

I have a 1920 x 1080 monitor. It's a good thing that the entire content of that blog fits within a 600 pixel column down the center of my screen. And it's a good thing he used 6 point font so that he didn't have weird line breaks.

That's what happens when you write comedy by committee. Even the best ideas are presented terribly.

Also, the part that he turned down, "Typical Swede", was the best role in the script. Another halfway decent joke presented poorly.

I think the rest of the world's PAL was visually superior to our televisions, but there I go disavowing our American exceptionalism again.

The way I see it it's as if George Carlin were sent a script for a sketch he is to perform at the Oscar opening (too many improbables?) that was written by Academy president nephew and got pissed off (a given) and posted on his blog what he thinks of it (again with improbables)

Magnus did not write this crap, but was asked to base his Eurovision intro on it

/ Yes, Carlin is dead
// No, Carlin never hosted an Oscar and would not even if asked to
/// Yes, I chose Carlin randomly (almost)
