Great presentation, but it's still going to taste like a hoagie.

So.  He puts all the stuff on the bun.  And then cuts it differently.  My local grocery store deli cuts their sandwiches the same way for their "Party Platters".  They don't get greenlit on Fark.

Agreed, but skirt steak is delicious.

That is not a hoagie roll.  You cannot make a hoagie without a hoagie roll.

2013-05-13 09:16:00 AM
I've never had a hoagie. It looks like the flavours would get bogged down with so much cheese. Cheese is good in moderation, but when it's cold and thick sliced wouldn't it make the sandwich gloopy?

That was underwhelming. If you want to see someone who really knows his way around a kitchen, this is better:

So, when presented with sandwich ingredients he makes a sandwich? I'm impressed. I really expected him to make a Greek salad.

How much do they want for that Cheesesteak someone cut on a bias....50$?

How about no.

Subway did that with one of their sammiches at a boxing match in Gas City. Eat Fresh, my brothas.

What the fark kind of hoagie has avocado in it? Besides one that costs $22, obviously.

You know what's absolutely LAME about avocado?  The abysmally low shelf life.  I mean if you buy a fresh one, you'd best be using that thing that day.

"Have some on a plate..."

Serving suggestion?  I prefer mine right out of the bag, or off of my bib, in case it missed my mouth on the first approach.

2013-05-13 10:28:11 AM
Done in one.

As for it being a 'hoagie'? Not so much.

It reminds of some friends talking about pizza last week. One REALLY like pizza made out of lamb - basically a big round open-faced gyro.

I said 'This is something but it's not 'pizza'.

Same for this: You can call it a 'hoagie' but it's just a higher priced pretentious steak roll.

Wow, and I thought the "Antenna Arm = UFO" video was stupid. People pay to have a small sandwich ruined by someone who shouldn't be making sandwiches?

I'd rather have me some 4th of July Heritage Loaf.

2013-05-13 11:07:22 AM
So he cut up a sandwich, am I missing something? I thought he was going to do something new with the ingredients.

A+ for presentation.   C- for content.    Cheese was a solid brick and the bun wasn't toasted.   Thinner cheese and toast the bun and I will give him a c+

Maybe a $6 sub.  But yeah, pretty much this.

What? No grilled onions? No steamed bun?

By this point, any A Hamburger Today reader knows that a slider is not just a mini burger. Putting a small beef patty on a tiny bun does not make it a slider, and don't even think about applying the moniker to a mini crab-cake or grilled chicken breast sandwich without copious use of quotation marks. ... the diminutive sandwiches are made by slowly steam-griddling thin, all-beef patties on a bed of onions.

I can overlook most of the substitutions (e.g. steak for ground meat) but making a slider without onions is like making sushi without rice.

That looks like it would be hard to eat. I mean, those pieces certainly aren't bite-sized, and it looks like it'd fall apart if you tried to take a bite of one.

We buy six or eight at a time. You have to buy the ripe, medium ripe and hard avocados so they ripen at different times. Put the hard ones in a dark pantry. They will be ready in a few days.

found it, " sushi matt "  gotta get me one

Looks like a great way to pack lots of stuff into anything from a foot long dog to a hoogie.  And the one pictured was only  $.99 not sure why I don't have one yet.

I thought about it. Love cooking, but worried that I lack the dexterity to manipulate those things without unrolling it and having the ingredients go everywhere.

/i'll stick to grilling

I've always taken issue with this. Hoagies are pretty much like that anyway. Why in the world are you expending all that effort slicing lunch meat and cheese into 1mm-thick slices, when you're just going to pile 8 slices on the farking thing in the end? I seriously think most Americans would be happy if they just had a whole bologna loaf for lunch with a side of mayonnaise dip.

Where the fark was the crunch factor supposed to come from?  Did I miss all the pickles, lettuce, coleslaw, toasting of the bun?  That was an insult.

Yep. My biggest pet peeve when getting subs is when they stack meat flat, or put thick areas of cheese (and then areas of no cheese). Come on, it's a sandwich. Spread the ingredients out so that every bite has every ingredient.

Let me guess, you've only had Kraft Singles?  Believe it or not there is real American cheese out there and it tastes fine.  Kinda like a mild cheddar.  Of course it is pointless when you could just have sharp cheddar.
