Well curfews that target a certain people are illegal.
Equal Rights and all that.
But then again it is Arizona where they don't care about Rights and Freedoms.

I had a nice officer be helpful instead of a dick, too. It's always surprising. I lived in a crappy little desert town, my vw bug's headlights went out on my home from work, and this was when cellphones only belonged to the wealthy. So I was slowly driving home along pole roads that run along the street. The officer stopped me, then offered to escort me home safely using her bright lights.

She checked his ID to see if he was over 18, I assume the curfew applies to minors. My town has a curfew for those under 18 as well, 10pm. It is enforced as well, not a bad thing.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100713025922AAA7VSq
Many curfew ordinances are arguably unconstitutional, but  Clovis has one of the simpler ones:

5.7.01Curfew: Minors loitering after 10:00 p.m.

No person under the age of eighteen (18) years shall loiter about the public streets, avenues, alleys, parks, or public places between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and the time of sunrise of the following day when not accompanied by his parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such person or the spouse of such person over twenty-one (21) years of age.

"Loiter" is a legal term which means remaining in a place without lawful business and with the intent of committing a crime as the opportunity arises, so this code does not make it illegal for a minor to be on the street after 10 absent evidence of the other elements. Walking back to your house would not be loitering.Source(s):35+ years as a criminal defense attorney

This is true almost everywhere with a heavy proportion of old people to normal people. The Florida town I grew up in had a weekday curfew of 10pm for anyone under 21 on the weekdays, midnight on friday/saturday.

That being said, I habitually would take a walk or bike ride to the 7/11 a few miles up the road in the middle of the night for pop and caffeine pills to keep me wired for those all night ad&d sessions, and was never actually harassed by the man. I would see one at the 7/11 sometimes, who would see I wasn't some delinquent getting drunk or stoned or both and getting in trouble and would mostly say "hey, be good!".

/some of those trips were for lighters and lighter fluid to burn things

Sweet story.
But I am bothered by the fact that when douchbag parents don't do their jobs a curfew must be implimented to keep their rowdy crotch fruit from running around like animals, thus cuasing douchbags on the internet to compare this country to Nazi Germany.

I'm not keen on the notion but curfews for minors (which is what prompted the officer to ask, "What's up?" according TFA) are not at all new in the USA.

Almost always in communities where there's a high incidence of minors being involved in crime - both as perpetrator and victim :(

/that being said, great to hear a "good cop" story on Fark

I've lived in towns with a curfew for everyone except if you're in a vehicle. I don't understand the thinking behind that.

I've got a 10 speed at my parent's place. Needs a bit of work, but how do I find someone to donate it to? I mean someone who needs it, not someone who is going to toss it into the Lachine Canal.

let kids be kids if they wanna wreck shiat let em (unless you can catch em)
don't you think maybe a curfew is curtailing their rights? They are still people
as long as they are not breaking real laws (drinking smoking drugs) they should be left alone
Sure stop them and ask them but forcing them to go home at a certain time is crazy talk

I do however agree with the parenting aspect of what you are saying... some peoples children er I guess I mean some peoples parents

Maybe google donating bikes in your area? There's a program near me that takes used bikes and fixes them up for giveaway.

Where I live people take stuff, try to sell it, fail, then toss it in dumpsters. Library book sales/giveaways are depressing as hell, because there's always one or two who fill up their mini-vans with everything they can, drive down to the used book store, then toss them in the garbage bin outside when the clerk says "are you kidding me?".

Luxury.  When I was a lad we lived in a hole in the trackbed of a subway tunnel.   If we didn't get out by 5:30am, our dad would toss us out onto the third rail.

FTFA:Since then, the two have kept in touch, and Simonick said she wants to continue to help Felix. So what's Simonick's next project?

"Well he did say that he's never driven a car before," Simonick joked. "First things first I'll see how he does with the bicycle."

At this rate, if I'm that kid, I've never had sex before, either.
