Well, once again the Bruins failed to close out a series...

Not optimistic at this point. I hope the Bruins at least show up to play tonight for the full 60 minutes, because last night was pitiful.

Guess we'll see soon enough.

I wouldn't say pitiful. It wasn't great hockey, but Reimer was pretty damn solid, and the Leaf's d keep the Bs from getting ANY rebounds, which is Reimer's weakness. I think that is the B's problem - Reimer gives up loads of re bounds, but by playing this pass-pass-pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass-  pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- pass- shoot game in Toronto's zone, they aren't going to get the rebound shots that will get past Reimer.

//my 2 cents.

Fubegra: Rangers/Caps: Rangers.
Leafs/Bruins: Leafs.
Wings/Ducks: Wings.

Not often I hit the trifecta.

That being said, the first round blew my West bracket to hell. I was predicting:
Hawks in 5
Ducks in 6
Canucks in 6
Blues in 7

What actually happened:
Hawks in 5
Wings in 7
Sharks in 4
Kings in 6

Still, I like the resulting matchups better. I won't know until tonight how badly my East bracket is shot.

For Round 2 in the West, I'm going to say Hawks in 5, and (naturally) Sharks in 6.

Yep, Leafs did a great job keeping the Bruins to the perimeters... But the lack of sustained offensive presence was more about the Bruins losing those one on one battles along the boards and in the corners, in my opinion.

I fell asleep halfway during the second period and I was overjoyed to see first thing this a.m. that Detroit won.

Wings love disengaged...GO HAWKS!

So happy for no 10pm starts and the last Western matchup between these two.

As a Hawks fan I am not at all disappointed to see Anaheim gone, and it only seems right that there be a Hawks/Wings series this year with Detroit Sucks heading off to the other conference.  Also, Hawks/Wings ought to be quite aesthetically pleasing to watch given the way the teams prefer to play.  And no late starts, hopefully -- even the 8:30 Central starts were pissing me off, and while I'm guessing we might still get stuck with some of those when the Hawks are at home, they're not the really late starts of the west coast.

Leafs are no longer intimidated by Boston. Be prepared to lose more often to TML in the regular season.

Yeah. It's like Little Leauge, only with rich guys.

Blackhawks fans are a strange bunch. I took my wife to a Red Wings game, and there was a kid, 13 or 14 years old, sitting a row down and a couple of seats away, dressed in a 'hawks jersey, and he spent the entire game ragging on the Red Wings.

The odd part was that we were at a game that had the Red Wings playing the Predators.

The kid had come to the game to spend the entire team yelling his head off, just to be negative toward the Red Wings.

While we Wings' fans may have some level of animosity towards other teams (like the Claude Lemieux-era Avalanche), I've never heard of a Red Wings fan that took it that far... in fact, I suspect had it not been the Joe, and he was actively hating on some other team at their home arena, he'd probably have found himself stuffed into a garbage can before the night was over. As it was, us Detroit fans just shook our heads, mildly amused (oh, I'm sorry, obviously that's our arrogance showing through, that we purposely didn't have the impatience to harm the kid like other teams' fans might).

Remember, he was a kid.  Kids are dumb.  Especially those in that age range.

I think the sheer hatred for the Wings on the part of some Hawks fans is residual butthurt from the ten seasons where the Hawks only made the playoffs once ('98-'08 with one appearance in '02) while the Wings took the Cup home three times during that same period ('98, '02, and '08).

As senseless as it seems, I've come to like the Wings, but I still want the Hawks to bounce Detroit out this round.
