We are slowly changing our atmosphere to be more Mars-like. This should make the Space Nutters happy. Next we'll get rid of our magnetosphere!

Bad on subby for forgetting to put the quotation marks around "skeptic" in the headline.  Or was that a deliberate troll?

I think we should all try and get as many apps as possible for our iPhones before it drops below -100 F and that way we'll have stuff to do.

Yeah, I thought the Earth itself was only  6,000 years old, so where were humans the first 2,000 years?

Sorry, I'm still derped out from the last time we did this thread. Wake me when the methane hydrates start cooking off.

Wow media - way to cry wolf so no one will listen when they REALLY need to...

When it hits this figure elsewhere is when it's time to panic.  Hawaii is right in the downwind path for all of China's pollution, and they shovel out quite a bit.

If global warming is human-caused, then even if we take steps to reduce our impact, with ever expanding population we're going to arrive at the global warming disaster point sooner or later so we may as well just figure out how we're going to live under an extra hundred feet of water and start prepping.

We know that humanity is pretty stupid:  in our greed, we aren't going to slow down on changing the environment.

Instead, we are making it easier to vet out new technology that can be used to making other planets inhabitable.  By bringing the wasteland experience here, we create real opportunities to test out new technologies, habitats, and methods of surviving in advanced spaces.

Climate, by definition, cannot change every day.

You're thinking of weather. You also have deliberately avoided learning anything that might make you look like less of an ignorant gibberish-spewer.

But if we had that technology, why wouldn't we use it here?

And if we did, what is the attraction of dead, frozen radioactive rocks floating in a vacuum?

Clearly the solution is to build a fleet of 3D printers to print us a new atmosphere.

Considering how stupid and/or malicious and/or childish a particular political spectrum have become sometimes I think we might actually need a benevolent dictator to run things for a couple decades just to fix things without obstructive dipsh*ts mucking everything up.

I think the author meant civilization has existed for about 8,000 years. Otherwise, we're dealing with a creationist who also believes in anthropogenic climate change.

We actually had a Frost Advisory last night.....in the middle of farking May!

Wow. I totally missed that one. Yikes. There's also a nice story in the sidebar about Bhengazi emails being altered... but the "alterations" basically say the exact same thing just not as definite. Probably because they didn't have all the facts yet and were being cautious not to start laying blame. Of course it's being construed as ZOMG CONSPIRACY!!

Go away derpers. You are the ones destroying the US... not 0booger.

400ppm of lysergicaciddiathalemide in a 1gram solution of water which is then put into your blood stream will cause an awesome time.

I can't determine which is more pathetic, that real science is showing us the warning signs of our current behavior and people don't understand how this is a problem, or do understand and just don't care. How difficult is it for people to have a real glimpse of reality and consequences, unshrouded by their stupidity and ego?

If someone intelligent, selfless, decent and patriotic enough could be allowed to work unfettered by lobbyists and retarded voters 20 years of smacking down sh*tty corporations, fixing education. healthcare and the justice system might spawn a generation responsible and motivated enough to take over again.

It would never work because who can be trusted to do it and would they survive long enough to accomplish it all? So we continue with the hate, partisanship, poverty, corruption and disillusion. I feel bad for the younger folks. No wonder they don't care about anything.

Hey, I don't want it to ever come to that but basically we ARE suffering under a dictatorship. A dictatorship of selfish obstructive bigots who would rather tear the country apart than work toward solutions. Look how many of you dildos refuse to acknowledge the democratically elected president of the US to the point of threatening violence. You don't believe in democracy. You believe more in authoritarianism than any of the sane liberals. Grow up or shut up.
