Dadoody: I really feel bad for that Michelle Knight girl.

All three girls had traumatic things happen to them, but Knight seems to have been a punching bag all her life. Beatings, rape, children take from her, siblings taken from her, then gets kidnapped, and has to deal with all that raping, beating, and abuse for 11 years in a basement.

Talk about a lifetime of suffering.

Soon she'll be on Fark with all the other broken Farkettes.

I feel for the little girl born to a rapist and his victim in captivity. Lots of people have farked up stories about their parents, but this kid would take home the prize.

If the Daily Fail is right (big if) and she's staying with the DeJesus family, she's in good hands.

Why? Because having your name plastered all over the news so idiots who have no concept of the hell you've been through can talk about it is the first step to healing?

FTFA: Grampa: 'The first thing she asked me was, ''Grandpa, do you still have my car?'' I joked and said, ''No, I've given it away.'' But then I heard silence and I told her I was kidding and she burst into tears of happiness.

That's awesome. The "I've given it away" thing.

Dude must post on Fark or something.

Didn't she have enough torture already?
That's just cruel to do that to her.
She must be a glutton for punishment.

The Knight girl has been quiet-- not wanting to see her family, in the hospital-  It is none of my business, but I am very curious as to how the details of her pan out.  She is staying with the DeJesus family now.  I surely hope they all get the help they need to not only undo the mindfarking they all got while in captivity, but to catch up on life skills they probably wouldnt have gotten anyways had they not been held captive-- now they will all be millionaires- I surely hope that comes with free education, consulting, etc--  Not trying to be a dick here, but I am sure their families are all going to be coming out of the woodwork trying to get a piece of the financial action.  Its not like being locked in a basement for ten years (especially during the years you learn many basic life skills) allows you to learn to be financially responsible. I am being a bit prsumptious here, but I am willing to bet none of their families are well-off to the point they would be respectable of their new wealth.  Just being real.

Just read up about Michelle Knight - she got the worst of the deal in life all way round. Goddamn.

2013-05-12 10:53:45 AM
so is this where Chevrolet is supposed to contact the family to thank them for the product placement and let them know a new Camaro is on the way. (with a truck full of micky d's). I refuse to believe the thought of a clapped out 86 monte enabled this woman to endure the living hell she went through.

2013-05-12 10:59:54 AM
I also really feel bad about Michelle Knight. She was being abused and was raped. She had a son who was taken from her because her mother's boyfriend was abusive. She got kidnapped, abused and raped by this creep. He kidnapped two others who were searched for by their families. Not only was it sick to make the other two watch the reports of their kidnappings and searches, including reports on America's Most Wanted, but you don't have to project too far to think that the sicko used the fact that HER family didn't search for her against her. She was forced to act as midwife when Amanda gave birth under threats of death if Amanda or the baby dies, all the while dealing with FIVE forced miscarriages.

Then, after getting free, the other two have families and homes all decorated with balloons and flowers to go to where all she has to look forward to (as far as she knows) is either the abusive home she had before or nothing. I hope to God (or whatever TPTB are) that this woman finds some measure of peace and happiness.

Then you don't know anything. According to Jaycee Dugard, the one thing that kept her going was seeing the moon and knowing that her mother could also see it. POW's have commented that it was often one single "little" thing like fishing with a brother or a cone from the local ice cream stand that kept them going. Amanda used to go to car shows with her grandpa and he promised her this car when she could drive. That was a tangible future coupled with a memory of love for her. Of course she would cling to it.

Says someone who knows nothing about cars. Sure, most 1986 Chevies are not classics. But an 86 Monte Carlo SS NASCAR edition certainly is. Now, it isn't really MY kind of car, but I certainly can appreciate that that is in fact a hard to find and special car.

fiveknuckleshuffle: I'd like to see someone like Counts Kustoms get involved in fixing it up for her.

I was hoping that Chip Foose and the Overhauling crew would offer to fix it up, or even Chevrolet itself.  Bring the car back to bone-stock original condition to keep its collector car value.  Plus, since that is the car that she was promised, and had been thinking of during her captivity, it would be nice to give it to her exactly as she remembers it.

Then someone can always give her a practical car for her and her daughter to use on a daily basis.

Plus I hope the other two women get their dreams fulfilled too.

Yeah, except there is no such thing as a "Nascar Edition" from the factory.  The SS and the Aerocoupe SS came about though because of Nascar.

Yep, the Aerocoupe, designed with the huge back window and put into limited production just to comply with NASCAR's then-rule of having to actually have a production model of a car available.

NoblePatrick: Sweet ride! Now she can go cruising in that Monte Carlo with her boyfriend Todd. You know Todd. That one guy with the wispy mustache, cold sore on his lip, pre-mulleted hair and a pack of smokes never more than arm's length away. They could crank open the T-tops (wow I miss T-Tops!) and jam out to some Ted Nugent on the tape deck. Later that night they would go to the local pool hall where Todd would run into his best bud Kurt. Kurt had an endless parade of girlfriends, the most recent one being Linda who was always in favor of tube tops. They would all eventually end up at Linda's place with a 12-pack of Busch (and maybe a few bottles of Bartles & Jaymes for the ladies) enjoying the pleasant spring evening and wondering what the big wide world had in store for them.

Not been following the story enough? Knight's family didn't care about her, and so the news had a hard time finding pictures. Now, I'm sure color/attractiveness was the reason why DeJesus wasn't as plastered around. But Knight was a forgotten and unloved child. That poor woman.

Quite true. It was actually my buddy's project car, and he was the sort of guy that had an absurd amount of talent for that sort of thing. We used to race it just outside town limits; don't think we ever lost driving that one.

While I feel sorry for all the 3 women I am especially sad to hear about Michelle Knight. It seems like she has it the 'worst' not only during the ordeal while in captivity but now that she is freed she probably has the least amount of support and familial ties.
I hope good things happen to all 3 of them but I especially hope more so for this Michelle gal.

Buick Regal and Grand National were next in popularity

I wish the woman every bit of happiness she can find and think its cool that she still will get the car she wanted.  That said I couldn't help but laugh when the guy was quoted as saying kept the "fancy hubcaps" in the house to keep them from getting stolen.  It sounds like the set up to a Jeff Foxworthy joke.

Like she has not had enough psychological torment. I just cannot process that, even with factoring in trying deflect some deep emotions with wisecracking. Seriously farked up.
