Train horns are frickin loud! Guy must have had his music cranked up high. Or he was listening to his "train sounds" mp3.

Not again, how many people have to die before we regulate these sneaky trains, maybe a law to force them to follow a set route on a schedule or something,  mark the route with some raised lines and force the trains to keep a spotlight shining ahead as a warning, and have a loud bell, whistle, or horn something to warn the unsuspecting public that one of these stealth killers is nearby...

Two blondes were walking through the woods when one said "oh look, deer tracks".
The other said "no, those are bear tracks".
Then the train ran them over.

Ivo Shandor: Fallout Boy: Why would anybody walk on train tracks? Do I have to be the first person to ask this simple question?

Yeah, what was going through his mind?

doglover: sirbissel: Was 8 or so, dad caught me walking down the railroad tracks, had to write 100 sentences about how I wouldn't walk on the train tracks. His dad used to work for the Grand Trunk as a breakman, and apparently getting hit by a train is (or was) fairly common from people just walking down the tracks.

When I was 8 my dad and I put coins on the tracks.

When I was eight I took nine torpedoes out of a maintenance jimmy and lined em up on the northbound outside town.
Later that day I raised my hand at the oncoming Amtrak and made the "bang" motion in front of my friends, I'll be damned if that train didn't come to a SCREAMING halt.
People stuck their heads out a couple placed and threw up.  Never put another thing on the rails again, didn't need to.   I'd publicly stopped a whole train from 80mph with my finger.

dopekitty74: You'd think he'd have felt the vibration of the tracks and ties in plenty of time to realize something was up.

Tonto put his ear to the ground and said to the Lone Ranger........buffalo come.
Can you feel the vibrations? asked the Lone Ranger.
No, said Tonto,  ground all warm and sticky!

Maybe going down to the route 136 bridge would have added 10 miles to the hike.
