As impressive as the quantity of lego that is, I am more surprised at the equivalent measures of the giza pyramid.

Well, can they build a flying car? We were promised flying cars.

....you know what, I think they should make a Lego Pyramid of Giza.

Full scale replica, put it in Cairo, Illinois.

shouldn't this be more about how many legos each of us has stepped on.
and what the most painful shape to step on is.

I had a lot of lego, but only the generic pieces, not the kits.

But trying to find that many pieces all the same color would be impossible. It would start off good but you'd end up having to use red and blue near the top to finish it.

How much oil was needed to make all those Legos?

You don't need slaves. Just find half a dozen 4-year olds and give each one some Red Bull. They'll have it done in a week.

LEGO's suck now. They were best when they were just a bunch of bricks & you could make whatever you could imagine, instead of these pre-conceived "sets".

My mom wouldn't let me have them - she said they'd get all up in the vacuum cleaner. They wouldn't have if she'd WATCH WHERE SHE VACUUMED!  :-(

You can always use the sand colored pieces on the outside, and use whatever color pieces for the inside, so it will look like the pyramid, but inside will be various colors.

Like frosting on a cake.

Yep, my mom had similar bullshiat excuses, but neighbor kid had all the cool stuff. GI Joe with every gun and uniform imaginable, Wild Wild West gun, holster, and hat! You name it, that kid had it. While his mom enjoys the rest of her days in a highrise assisted living condo, I hope my mom enjoys the used 5th wheel I got her to live out her days in farking Florida.

Wenchmaster: Could we build a death star with that many Legos?

Nope.  Just did a quick approximation, and it would take 754.7 quintillion quintillion times more Legos than that to make a Death Star.

Also, it would cost $17.279 quintillion dollars.

(used Ryszard Gold's numbers to find the cubic meters of material and substituted Legos for steel, these figures for a standard 8-peg block, and an average of $10 per pound of Legos from here)

That dog looks pixellated.

Hee, hee, hee. I love the pixellated joke.

But what I was going to say is that if you built 2,972 White Houses every almost every moron in the country could have one, except the real contrarians, of course, who are never pleased with anything. 2,972 carefully chosen* Presidents would make the country an efficient democracy. Nobody would have a clue who was running things. Just like now. Nobody would agree with anybody on even the most obvious facts. Just like now. And the country would somehow survive being run by History's Greatest Monsters and Most Complete Idjits. Just like now.

*By carefully chosen, I mean randomly selected within demographic constraints so as to represent the population. Like juries, only not so stupid.

USED TO MAKE PLASTIC LEGOS

Bonus:  All out of LEGOs

If the US was split into like 3,000 mini countries they would be rather tiny, hell there is like what maybe 500 cities with over 100k people.

Scaled up and made from UV resistant materials, LEGO might  make good temporary housing. Kinda like high tech adobe.

You know that you don't have to build the thing pictured on the box, right?

My son has multiple themed sets, and I don't think he's ever actually built whatever it is the set is supposed to be. Pirate ships become starships, Transformers become tanks, etc etc.

Because it's still just a big box of pieces that lets you use your imagination...

This. My wife surprises me with Lego sets from time to time (best wife evar!), and she's learned to choose sets based solely on the color and type of pieces it comes with, not the actual model.
