That picture made me think.... just what kind of damage could Professor X do on LSD?  I guess we'll have to wait for the X-men / Fringe crossover series.

But seriously, it's going to have some of the First Class cast, some of the original trilogy's cast, plus Blink, Bishop, Sunspot and who knows who else.

If Professor X has mind powers, why doesn't he just use his them to make his legs move? And he had a team of genius mutants, but none of them can make bionic legs? Big plot holes.

Not mention in the comics he is friends with Tony Farking Stark, who only knows a thing or two about cybernetics, but he also has access to Extremis nanotech.

Yeah. I'm getting a real "Buffy" vibe there. Like everyone was cast because they're cute and quirky. What do you want to bet that all three of those tiny, waif-like girls (apparently the only kind of woman Whedon thinks exist) will be using the same "spin-kicks and luchadore head scissors" martial arts style as Buffy and River Tam?

I'm not going to worry just yet. It may be great... As long as it's more "Fringe" and less "Buffy."

It's a moot point in the comics: Professor X is dead. Cyclops killed him... And then the Red Skull dug up his body, stole his brain, and managed to dissect it and give himself a lot of Professor X's psionic abilities.

Then the Red Skull used those powers to make everyone in the world hate mutants and kill them on sight, until the Avengers stopped him (but he got away).

But even when he was alive, he wasn't exactly 'friends' with Stark, so much as being a colleague in the Illuminati.

Oh, and prior to his death he had been walking for a long time. The wheelchair went out ages ago.

In case you're serial...

It's a plot device/character flaw. In most cases, he cannot walk because of a mental block. His physical wounds are healed. His physical weakness is a sub-consciously self-imposed limitation enforced by his massive mental powers. Even if he had bionic legs, his mind wouldn't let them work properly.

Ultimates don't count.

There's another theory that says that Xavier deliberately reinforces his handicap status on a subconscious level on all those around him.  He appears weaker to most people, less dangerous, less of a threat to his enemies.  That theory says he's not handicapped at all, but it suits his purposes for people to see that image of him.

Well... they are supposed to be kick ass secret agents.  I'm assuming that a high degree of physical combat skills are required, so it actually makes sense for the actors and actresses to be fairly built.  Although I do hope he tones down the unbelievable fight scenes with actual humans a little bit.  It makes sense with Buffy, that's practically a super power and River Tam, well, yeah, but regular humans might be nice for a change.

In the 90's cartoon series on TV, if Charles entered an area that suppressed all mutant powers, he immediately started walking and running, until he got his power back.

Fatal Attractions storyline, Wolverine #75: Professor X used a Shi'ar battlesuit powered by his psychic abilities to let him go with the X-teams to Asteroid M to stop Magneto. Unfortunately, the usage of the suit took considerable amounts of concentrationand sapped his strength, which made it not very effectivefor use all the time. This is the same story where Magneto ripped the adamantium from Wolverine's bones....yeah,I'm a super nerd.

/Just signed up Marvel Ultimate, getting caught up House of M.
