Maybe it's one hexology, and that will be it.

That makes about as much sense as the other things the Republicans have said about  Fast and Furious

It is what it is.  I watched FF5 (or whatever they're calling it) and I knew what I was in for.  They're okay as long as you're not too concerned with things like "dialogue" and "plot" and "physics".  But they've got cars and chicks and explosions...

Vin Diesel and the Rock will have a steady gig for at least the next ten years.  FFX, anyone?

Even THEY couldn't get to a part 6.

I don't watch them myself but if it gives Vin Rock or whoever does the Riddick movies more funding then I'm for it.

You are part of the problem, not part of the solution!

I'd watch Vin Diesel do anything and be in anything. Nom-tastic

I want to mock so badly, but I enjoyed Fast Five far more than I should have. It's no Drive Angry, but it's still ridiculously stupid fun.

As said before, it is what it is..and it excels at being what it is.  It's not high drama, it's not a movie that demands a great deal of thought...It's a couple of hours of boom and vroom, with hot guys and girls to gawk at in between the booms and vrooms.

I like the series and as long as they stay entertaining, they can make 20 of em and I wouldn't care.

Exactly. For me, the only time I'd say a movie sucks is when it doesn't live up to expectations. If you go in expecting car chases, skanks, and explosions, and you get car chases, skanks, and explosions, it's a pretty damn good movie.

Do the needful: Holy Jesus what kind of warped parallel universe have I stepped into?

Just the passage of time. It's like Al Jolson's blackface or Songs of the South. We had our time loathing it, wishing it never occurred, wondering "How could they be so stupid?!", but our hearts softened and we realized that these missteps took place in a bygone era and now maybe, just maybe, we can accept them for what they are.

Mark Sinclair Vincient (aka Vin Diesel) is a 45 year old man who has starred in 6 movies about cars and explosions that are targeted at the teenage and fratboy demographics.

I don't know where I'm going with this... but that's what it is. If he did another trilogy he'd probably be a 50 year old doing movies about cars and explosions for teenagers and fratboys.

Is it an out of order trilogy?  Because from what I've read the timeline of these are, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 3rd.    Since the Japanese guy bites it in the third movie.  Unless he's a ghost, is he a ghost?  Did I just figure out the twist?

There was a spoiler I heard about of a post (or during) credits scene that links this movie with the timeline of Tokyo drift.

Fifth was quite entertaining.

2013-05-11 12:26:02 AM
I wish they would go back to using mostly real cars without CGI like they did in Tokyo Drift. They even bothered to do an actual engine swap for a Mustang even though it wasn't the one they used for filming.

Compare that to whatever the hell that Fast Five finale was.

I'll still watch another one (or four).

2013-05-11 12:49:00 AM
If they're gonna do a big dumb series revolving around car chases that doesn't care about being serious, they should add Burt Reynolds to the mix.

I've enjoyed all of them for what they are, mindless action fare with cars. I even enjoyed Tokyo Drift. They are light years better than your typical fratboy comedy like The Hangover or cheesy horror spoofs like the Scream series, to say nothing of the execrable Twilight movies. Make another 6 of them, Dwayne Johnson gave the series a good boost.

2013-05-11 01:20:34 AM
The F&F are this decade's version of Schwarzenegger movies. Especially like Commando and Running Man. They aren't high art, but they're a lot of fun.

2013-05-11 01:37:07 AM
I've seen most of the movies in the series for some reason, but for the most part they suck.

That said, the trailer for the next one was impressive. If they keep raising the bar for crazy action sequences, it may be worth getting back into.

I like the franchise, I know what I'm getting into.  Its like old-school Stallone movies, where you go in knowing he's either punching people in the face, or massacring them.  Or Pre-Comedy-attempt-Ahnaaald.  I go in, shut off my brain and giggle and have fun.

Last movie, when it was over the guy sitting in front of us was like, "They're just going to keep making these and we're just going to keep watching them, aren't we?" They aren't great cinema, but for what they are--car chase movies--they do it very well.

And if it finally gets a studio to greenlight Vin Diesel's Hannibal epic, I'm all for it. He's a D&D nerd who's been stuck doing action movies his whole career, I want to see what he can do with that story.

I cannot wait for this movie. They're just mindless, hilarious action. Adding The Rock to the mix was the perfect move - they could make ten more and I'd see them all.

Not seen a single one of these. Not maliciously opposed to it. Just utterly apathetic. Would likely watch one if I stumbled upon it.

I feel as if Fast and Furious is the best D20 Modern movie adaptation we're every going to get.

There's supposedly a full-length trailer for Riddick that will debut with the FF6 movie when it hits theaters, per a Facespace post from Vin. The new movie is potentially one of two Riddick movies that will be filmed.

I like Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson as former non-actor actors that have a lot of potential, but these damn guys keep doing these stupid movies.  Vin moreso than Dwayne.  Vin has done nothing but these F&F movies, after doing a pretty good job as Riddick.  And DJ is tied to some Disney contract that forces him to do these idiotic kids movies.

This kind of shiat reminds me of the downward spirals of Will Smith and Nic Cage.

2013-05-11 08:25:41 PM
If it's not Iron Giant 2 or something something Riddick, I don't really care; Mr. Diesel.

I could use a half-orc barbarian in my skype-based Kingmaker campaign though, we are on indefinite hiatus because not enough of the players live on CA time.

Listen to my story...

Vin Diesel would make a pretty good Auron, I think... Johnson's a little too bombastic for the role. He could play Seymour, though...
